There's a restaurant on site, as well as a snack bar/deli. You can enjoy a drink at the bar/lounge. Public spaces have free WiFi. Grand Villa Heights also features a terrace, a garden, and a picnic area. Free self parking is available.
Had to move rooms because the carpet was all loose and dirty. The second room was tatty wall paper peeling, no hot water in the basin, pull cord in the bathroom broken , handle on the bathroom door falling off and the latch falling out , breakfast wasnât hot the only good thing was the view . Poor hotel
An amazing stay. The dining experience was excellent and the renovations that are underway at this venue is out of this world. The bedrooms are very tired and but very desirable but clean and comfortable and price reflective - a dog friendly venue - dogs welcome in all spaces. Brilliant !!! the bedrooms are scheduled for renovation November 2025 - if these are going to be designed and completed to the standard of the social spaces then the grand villa hotel will be outstanding and I imagine one of the best wedding venues in North Yorkshire
Have visited GVH regularly when it was the Ravenscar Hotel, but have never stayed. The hotel appears to be transitioning in to a wedding venue, to the detriment of the hotels other guests. The bar breakfast and lounge area used to be overlooking the scenic bay. This area has now been pushed to the rear of the hotel,in a rather drab and dreary room with no charm or outlook. Whoever decided to paint the ceiling of this area in the same depressing colour as the walls must enjoy living in a cave. Even though we enjoy the area and walk here regularly this shift
on emphasis does not entice me to make a return visit. We had a meal in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, this was overpriced so we expected very good quality. This was not to be, the âoven chipsâ to go with the meal were cold and undercooked and so had to be returned to the kitchen.
Over all we love visiting this area, and enjoy the ambiance, character and charm of the hotel. However it appears it has lost its soul.
We srarted our short stay with Sunday lunch, which was very good - plenty of vegetables which suits us. We then checked in with a very helpful young lady on reception. The room was spacious, with stunning views over Robin Hood's Bay. We're looking forward to breakfast as we've stayed here before and know how good it is. I'm already looking at the calendar with a view to booking our next visit.
Our second stay here. The views are to die for. It's lovely and quiet. The grounds make for a good stroll. The staff are super helpful and we'll definitely be back.
At check in there was immediate demand for ÂŁ30 for dog. This was unexpected since not mentioned on Expedia booking. Amount seemed wholly disproportionate and check in staff were very abrupt. Room extremely shabby. Broken toilet seat, shower water pressure very low at useable temperature, broken edge on dressing table, paper thin walls allowing conversations to be heard from adjoining rooms, saggy, thin mattress. No signage or staff so difficult to find restaurant which was very dark and gloomy. Lacking sea view. However evening meal and breakfast were satisfactory although service was cursory.
Views was beautiful, unfortunately if your not a dog person , this is not the hotel for you , dogs everywhere , restaurant, lounge, bedrooms , constant barking & dog hair, reception & bar staff lovely , food not great , raw chips , but could not careless when mentioned, Breakfast staff dripping in sweat, again manager could not careless and not very friendly,
Excellent value inbetween Scarborough and Whitby . If you stay here visit robin hoods bay for lovely cliff walk from bootle hill 5 mile from hotel
Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice Staff were all polite and helpful
Would definitely stay again
Hotel is beautiful. Beautiful location and views to die for. Rooms could be doing with an update, but clean enough. Staff cant do enough for you. Only downfall was the drink prices, but on the expensive side .
