This is a very good choice to stay at in Monterey if you have to stay on a budget. From my experience it isn't the nicest hotel but it's satisfactory; and the staff are very helpful and very kind towards the clientele. Best Wishes & Ty

Perfect for an affordable stay near Monterey and NorCal! I'm super grateful for the Gateway Lodge's prices in a sea of pretty overpriced hotels and motels!

Our room was very comfortable and accommodating due to the nature that we're disabled. And the front desk clerk was extremely friendly and he remembered us from a previous visit. We will definitely stay again.

hotel was a really good price & a super close walk to the beach. theres a gas station, dispensary, fast food, grocery stores, & a bunch of stuff within walking distance or close drive. staff was super friendly & helpful. room was definitely not the cleanest tho, especially the bathroom, it wasnt horrible but definitely a little gross & the water smelled weird. also ac was barely working but weather is nice down there so wasnt a super big problem.

The room was okay and clean. My only gripe was that they charged us for our dog to stay with us at $30 per night. There was nothing mentioned prior to me booking the reservation.

I usually write negative reviews, but I wanted to share feedback that may help improve future stays. The sheets weren’t clean when we arrived, and the bathroom had a few issues, including flickering lights and missing conditioner. The area wasn’t ideal, though being near a shopping center was convenient.
