Misleading Listing, Racist & Rude Owners
We booked this accommodation on the basis of it being a 3 bedroom as we have an adult son and a teenage daughter and it is better for everyone that they have their own rooms. It was clear upon arrival that this was a lie, there were only 2 bedrooms. We sent the adult son to stay with relatives in Hamburg and asked to be refunded for the 3rd adult. A number of messages were exchanged with owner about this. We went out for dinner and upon returning, a man was waiting inside the suite for us to return. He aggressively came at us for the message exchange with his wife and demanded a cash deposit or he would kick us out. Finally he left but we felt threatened by his behaviour and that he was in the place we had booked in our absence. We phoned VRBO and discussed the entire situation with them. VRBO expressed great concern and recorded the facts. The next morning, it seemed to be sorted out and we were determined to enjoy the rest of our vacation. It was fine until the last night when the man again entered the apartment in our absence, searched our luggage, then waited for us so he could verbally attack us again. It was unpleasant and certainly took away from our enjoyment of the trip. We had paid Euro 80 cleaning charges too.
The icing on the cake came the next day though when we received an angry message from the owner on WhatsApp based upon racial hatred - stating that we were the âdirtiest guestsâ, left apartment dirty and the toilet clogged. These were totally false accusations based upon her racist mentality. Owner said she was upset when âshe received a booking from Indians because she knew this would happen.â
I am Canadian (Danish Canadian). My husband is British of Indian origin, highly educated and a multinational company director in London. It is clear that their hostility towards us was 100% racially motivated - that is a criminal offence. The apartment was not dirty at all. The trash had been taken out, the bedsheets folded and all surfaces had been wiped down.
The owner further wrote that she is a Russian from St Petersburg and that she has problems with people from India, Afghanistan and other Asian countries - she finds them cheap and dirty.
We have excellent references on other sites- We are a very decent, educated professional family from the UK and Canada. We are not used to racial attacks by a racist Russian lady.
The place gets stifling hot on sunny days.
