Smoking is allowed in designated areas at this 3-star Serrekunda hotel.
It was a nice and quiet location at Serrekunda. But in my first night some people held a wedding banquet downstairs, with loud music until midnight. The room was huge with super big balcony and unbeatable sea view. The restaurant served good food and I had all my breakfast, lunch and dinner there. But I needed to pay for the meals in cash in local currency, unless I could work out how to use the local mobile phone payment app, which I could not. I loved the direct access to the beach. But I needed to be careful during high tide, as the current could bring me to the rocks. The tide could completely swallow the beach and many rocks became submerged. There was currency exchange at reception with good rates, but it was not always available.
We were really pleased to stay at this property.
The room was large with amazing ocean views, great to sleep with the sound of the ocean in the background. The pool is a good size, and the pool deck and outdoor seating areas share the same views. Food was really good throughout, we especially enjoyed the Chicken Domoda and Chicken Yassa that we had for lunch.
A late check-out was easily arranged and suited our evening flight back to the UK.
Hotel is in a very quiet area surrounded by diplomatic missions which we appreciated. Tourist areas like Banjul and Senegambia are a short taxi ride, and there's a tourist market about 10 minutes walk away.
This review is for my return visit to the Gambia. After such a great experience during my first visit in this clean, comfortable hotel with great staff and every room with a stunning ocean view, my choice as to where to stay in second trip was made very easy. Highly recommend!
This hotel is an absolute gem! The rooms are clean and spacious with all seemingly having amazing ocean views. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's a bit outside main tourist area, which is fine as reception was able to call taxi or I used 1Bena (Gambia Uber). Highly recommend!
The hotel itself is very comfortable, spacious and modern. They have a lovely swimming pool and a clean private beach. The restaurant is also lovely and has a range of meals available. The staff at the hotel are very accommodating and helpful, trying to ensure your stay is great.
To be honest I expected a lot more for this price and I donât think the expectations corresponds to the 100 dollar per night price. The location and the rooms were stunning. Everything else was pretty average. You are better off booking a guesthouse at a third of the price and youâd get the same.
Breakfast was unfortunately quite poor and you could not order any other food for lunch or dinner except shrimps.
Besides the location being good the staff was very friendly and helpful :)
But ultimately too expensive for what you get, which is pretty average
Beautiful location, great rooms with ocean view, hot water, and with great staff on site. Would definitely recommend and will try to come back and stay in the future.
The hotel is located in a lovely bay, next to Ngala Lodge Hotel. The area around the hotel is quiet and you will be able to walk to local cafes and restaurants without harassment. The cliff top setting gives good views and provides pleasant terraces for sunbathing, swimming and eating.
Rooms are large with king sized beds. Big TVs, a fridge and a tea /coffee are provided. Air conditioning is effective. All rooms have sea views and access to a large balcony area. Some of the woodwork is rather tired looking for a new hotel.
Food is plentiful and well cooked.
Majula has an outstanding view of the sea. Every room has a sea view. it is a truly boutique hotel. Most suitable for business trips or families who seek tranquility, comfort and easy access to the beach. I would certainly go back there again.
