Experience the historic Alaskan frontier in this comfortable apartment located in downtown Seward. One bedroom with queen sized sleeper couch in the living room this unit is fully equipped with private bath, kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, TV with cable, and Wi-Fi. This quiet, second floor rental has a private entrance in the historic Brown & Hawkins building. Walk out the door to restaurants, shopping, waterfront walkway, and the Alaska Sea Life Center. Charming and comfortable, this rental has everything you need for your stay.
The place was clean and easy to find. My main feedback is to update the Wi-Fi password in the check-in email, since the one provided was outdated and we had to call management to get the correct one. It would also be helpful to mention that thereâs a guest book available at check-in. Otherwise, management was flexible and accommodating, even allowing us a slightly later checkout. Would recommend!
This historic property met our needs well for our visit to Seward. We were disappointed that we were in the rear of the building and didn't have any decent views. Just a peak-a-boo view of the mountain from the living room. The age of the property meant a few things were quirky and the sloping bedroom floor caught us off-guard a few times. The kitchen was well stocked for our morning tea & coffee and we appreciated the fridge/freezer. The heat was good on those rainy days. I enjoyed the rocking chair in the LR for my morning quiet time. There was plenty of storage everywhere. We could hear other guests in the hallway but that wasn't a problem. We enjoyed our stay here and tried to imagine the building when it was young.
A bit of time travel staying in this historic building, with the charm (some antique furniture) and also a few inconveniences (steam heat; no dishwasher) of an older property. Perfect location for enjoying all of Seward.
Checkin was easy, however the unit walls were dirty, couch was old and dirty. Bathroom sink didnât drain, shower had mold on the door. There was a sewer gas or septic smell, that was hrs to look past. Pillows in bed were very very thin. We have stayed in other properties of this age and had no problems. We checked out immediately and notified property manager. We had to scramble to find a room which was a huge challenge on a holiday weekend during the end of vacation season. We had to move 4 times during our stay in Seward just to be able to have a room. The property owners should perhaps inspect their property and show it some love. The property manager was nice and apologetic but it took some time to get a refund which was only partial.
My two sisters and I stayed here for the final leg of our Alaska sister trip. It was perfect for us!
Itâs walking distance to most everything in Seward. We had a car, so the easy parking accommodations were a bonus.
The building itself is old and very charming. We were in unit #3. I read in previous reviews that there was no curtain in that room. The host has taken care of that. I slept on the sleeper sofa in that room and had no problem sleeping during my late July visit.
The unit is a walk up, so beware if you have lots of luggage to carry. It's not fancy but it has all of the amenities you could possibly need - coffee maker, pots, pans, microwave, silverware, oven, stove, etc.
We highly recommend!!!
Charming place in a great location with everything we needed. Note there are no curtains in the room with the fold out couch, but were were able to hang a comforter over the curtain rod to darken the room during our late June visit.
This apartment (apartment #3) was in a perfect location! Right on the Main Street, walking distance to all the shops, restaurants and the Sea Life Center and a 5 minute drive to the harbor. The building itself is very old and historic which is cool but also means thin walls and creaky floors. Also - no elevator and the apartments are all upstairs so not the easiest if you have big/heavy luggage. The apartments are all in the back of the building, not the front, which isnât a big deal, I just thought based on the pictures that the apartment would be overlooking the street which it wasnât.
By mistake our apartment had not been cleaned from the previous guest when we arrived. Luckily , Erica from Coastal Heritage Accomodations had texted me earlier in the day to answer a separate question so I had her direct contact info. I texted her and she responded immediately. She sent someone over right away to clean the apartment and even offered us to head downstairs to the ice cream parlor to enjoy on their tab.
The only other downside was that the living room area, which had the sofa sleeper where our daughter slept , did not have any shades on the window, just a light curtain and as sunset this time of year is not until 11:30 it was difficult for her to sleep. Definitely recommend a sleeping mask if you plan to utilize the bed in that room
