I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff were very welcoming, acknowledging us every time we walked in. The room was very well appointed and spotlessly clean, even being made up twice on one of the days we were there. The pool and jacuzzi on the roof level are great. Right over the road from the MTR station, and just around the corner from one on a different line, giving fast access to the whole city, as well as the airport. Shops and parks are only a short walk away. Great food mall next door with very reasonable and good quality food. We booked this hotel fairly last minute after cancelling a different hotel which was considerably more expensive and, although we obviously never saw it, appeared to be of a lower quality. We were not disappointed and will definitely stay here again if we return to Singapore.

Great welcome at 30 Bencoolen

Firstly, the welcome from the Front Desk staff, particularly Diana was excellent.She kindly let us check in early & everything in the room was very good. The mattress was comfortable, the bathroom pristine and the water pressure was very good. Also, it’s well located as the MRTis maybe 3 minutes away.

We liked that the rooms area good size, and where able to have a balcony to give that fresh air break from the a/c. Except the balcony in our first room faced the exhast fan across the lane, so it wasn't pleasent and the door didn't seem to block out the noise. Then the light in the wardrobe didn't go off so maintainence had to come and disconnect it. Then a fuse took out all the electical. After a couple of nights we moved to another room across the hallway, facing the main road, no noise balcony was enjoyable and we could sit outside and not be blown away by the exhaust noise, we even had small birds in the trees. Bathroom layout was not as good as the first room but still functional. Note if you want to keep anything in the fridge tell recption so the electrical auto isolation is bypassed ad the fridge shuts off with the whole room electrical sensors. The guest laundry was very useful however the price has gone up to $10 a wash and another $10 to dry not $16 as per the web. (Does include soap) Colour style is very dark, and stark. Could do with prints or a splash of colour. Location is very good, if i could get the 2nd room again then we would look to stay again, as the location and area is very handy.

Brilliant.

Great location to see the city, very close to tube station. Pool was brilliant after a long day and the staff allowed us to use it after check out which was a great convenience for us. Staff were very friendly and helpful

This is an intriguing hotel: one the one hand, it's immaculate, modern and looks almost brand-new throughout. It has a smart, clean, lobby area and a great rooftop pool. The rooms have a pleasing modern-minimalist aesthetic, with subdued greys and browns throughout. The bathrooms are great - stone effect and well lit. The super-king bed was very comfortable: huge, great mattress and pillows, high thread-count sheets. The A/C worked great. Location is also amazing: a bus-stop right outside the lobby doors, across the street from Bencoolen MRT and just around the corner from Dhoby Ghaut MRT . It's a 5 min walk to the National Museum. It couldn't be more central. What I can't make sense of, is that the hotel has ZERO catering: the lobby has an open-plan seating area with a bar/catering area at one end. It could be the coolest, hipsterish, hangout. But it's dead. There is no restaurant, not even a coffee shop or a morning breakfast bar. Obviously, there's no room service either. What's up with that? I've spent a whole month at 30 Bencoolen this year (two weeks in March, and two weeks in September). I wouldn't have returned if I wasn't happy to stay there, but I do think they need to sort out the catering arrangements - it doesn't feel like a proper hotel without catering, and I can't help feeling that they are missing out on a huge opportunity to turn this great property (which as I've said looks brand new) into a very hip hangout for travelers and locals alike.
