Good for a one night stay
Super breakfast and plenty of choice of evening meals. Comfortable, clean room. No hot water from basin tap. Shower hot, but couldn't adjust temperature. Staff welcoming.
Lovely hotel in a great location to access the Yorkshire dales. Clean comfortable room. Nice pub with great food and friendly professional staff. We had a really good time.

One night stay
Food great, bedrooms a bit dated , shower very poor
Country pub with good food option. Bed was tiny and uncomfortable, shower only provided scalding hot water! Breakfast doesn’t start until 8.30am but they provided a good lunch as an alternative.
Great location for our base for the places we wanted to visit, easy access, fabulous staff, fabulous food, staff couldn’t do enough to help you. Building is a beautiful quirky place, and bedrooms a great size. A bit limited for places to eat outside of the Maypole, but their food was excellent.
The service was great, food wholesome and sensibly priced and the room/bathroom was excellent.
However, poor or non-existent WiFi really let down what was an otherwise excellent offering.
Lovely people and delicious food. Bar was very friendly. Spacious room (#5) and big and comfortable bed. No internet in bedroom (think it was faulty as it showed a signal) but OK in bar. Water pressure in room #5 very poor but clean a pleasant bathroom. No mobile service but that is obviously not The Maypole’s fault!
Stayed here in 2023 and excellent once again.
Lovely room 1 Pen-y-gent the walk in shower i wish i could take home. Plenty of tea coffee in room and toiletries.
Had steak and ale pie with veg and chips. Big chunks of tender meat in luscious gravy, chips were home made and not the usual frozen ones! Meal was excellent.
Lovely fire in bar which was really welcoming on such a bad day
Nice breakfast.
Great you could check in after 2pm as the weather was awful out and could check out at 11 am.
Enjoyed my stay again and will be back.
I used this place as a base for exploring the Dales. Great staff: very welcoming and friendly on arrival, in the pub, and at breakfast (which was great). The building has a lot of historical character (creaky floors, wonky doors and low beams) but is well maintained and comfortable. Pub downstairs was also full of local characters and made for an entertaining evening.
