Alpenglow Cabin @ Keystone Retreat
Summary: Alpenglow Cabin @ Keystone Retreat is an adorable nicely appointed tiny house located on the world famous Kenai River. This cabin is a part of our family legacy home site and has been professionally designed and built to exclusively enjoy the amazing beauty year round along with world-renowned fishing. For larger groups, we have 4 units available on property and an additional 6 units across the street.
The Kenai River is the most popular sport fishing destination in Alaska. Each year there are two runs each of king salmon, coho salmon, sockeye salmon, plus a run of pink salmon every other year. The world record king salmon, which weighed about 44 kg (97 lb), was caught in the Kenai River in 1985. The Kenai is also the home of trophy size rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Occasionally there will be reports of catching of "Steelhead"(Sea-run Trout). In recent years, the king salmon fishery has been closed or heavily restricted due to low returns of fish. The Coho salmon runs occur in early August and early October. The September run is favored by local anglers due to the larger size of the silver salmon. The sockeye salmon runs are in late-June and mid-July-August. Sockeyes are considered the premier salmon for eating, canning, and smoking.

Not many places I've visted in Alaska have a modern contemporary look and feel. This place does. It feels like the lower 48.
That may or may not be your style, but if you enjoy those familiar comforts and experience. its a great place to stay. riverfront access, ice, cleaning station.
friendly and welcoming hosts.
modern conveniences such as digital/phone keys and communication, booking, etc.
i hope to stay with them again.
Very clean and beautiful. Location is great. Sandi and Mark are really great hosts. Great place for fishing or just hanging out at the fire pit. Would do it again for sure.
Traveling with our family of 4 (2 parents, 1 young adult and 1 teenager) we loved this place. It is beautifully located at the end of a quiet road on the Kenai River, 5 minutes from Soldotna and the nearest grocery store. If you like good design and clean facilities this is the place. We stayed in the Alpenglow Cabin with 2 very comfortable queen size beds. It was a little tight for 4 if you spend all your time inside. But we never did, there is too much to do in the area and the property is setup for outdoor enjoyment. On the property is a private dock on the Kenai, a fire pit, area for outdoor seating, a pavilion and an ice house for prepping your catch and cleaning laundry. Adjacent to the property is a public boat ramp and a little down the road is the public dock for fishing and bird/moose/bear watching.
Soldotna is convenient to so many activities. We hiked and fished and hiked and fished with day trips to Homer, Kenai, Whittier and Seward and more hiking and fishing and a little shopping.
Sandi and her husband Mark were so friendly and helpful with great recommendations and knowledge about the area. We could not have asked for a better host or a better experience. Our stay was more than we had hoped for and Sandi, Mark and Keystone Retreat made all the difference. We can't wait to come back.
