Spacious and modern five-bedroom, two-bath vacation rental in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Just minutes away from both Lake Tahoe and Heavenly Ski Resort, enjoy the short walk to the Heavenly Gondola. This excellent location is ideal for hiking and other daytime adventures. It features air conditioning, a gas barbecue, parking for 4 cars, and is perfect for relaxing and enjoying the forest views.

Minimum 30-night rental. Making it the perfect family vacation rental for a winter on the slopes or summer on the lake.

This home accommodates a family of 10 if children are included. It cannot host more than 9 adults. This applies 24/7.

Built in 2011 this modern mountain chalet is the perfect alpine escape for your next vacation. It's incredible location is close to the best of South Lake Tahoe. Upon entering, you will be welcomed into an open kitchen that connects to the living room. Perfect for keeping the whole family together. Beat the summer heat with air conditioning, a rare treat for homes in Tahoe. During the winter warm up by the the gas fireplace while unwinding from a day skiing. Family meals will be a delight to prepare in the large open-plan kitchen and dining area or fire up the gas BBQ in the backyard for some summer grilling. Monthly rental vacation homes are perfect for making multiple trips up to the lake during Tahoe's most popular times.

About The Area:
It is located in a quiet neighborhood just off Highway 50, nestled in the pines. The home is very close to the Heavenly California Base Lodge, which is located on Saddle Road & Wildwood Avenue. Right across from the Base Lodge parking lot is Himmel House which is a great restaurant for German-style food & beer. The Heavenly Gondola and Village is a short walk away, with lots of options for dining, shopping, and mountain activities. Tahoe Marina is a short drive away, where boats, paddle boards, and jet skis can be rented. The home is steps away from the Chonokis Road Trail and the Van Sickle Bi-State Park, which connects to some of the best hiking and mountain bicycling. This is the perfect home for year-round adventures in South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe was Heavenly!

This property was superb! Sandy was a very gracious and accommodating host/owner, with great communications. The home was immaculate and well cared for. Parking was easy. Everything, from beds to furniture to amenities like fireplaces and TVs were in great condition, and our stay was very fun and very comfortable. Access to the Heavenly gondola was fast by car, and could be walked if needed (we chose to drive and drop). There are several restaurants very nearby (Italian, Mexican, Pizza, Applebee's, and more), and a Raley's shopping center near the gondola too. All in all, our stay was perfect! Thanks very much!

Wonderful place

We enjoyed this place very much. It is a beautiful house and is in walking distance to shopping, bars and attractions. The house was comfortable for our family get-together which included a senior, a toddler and 8 adults. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Spring break cabin getaway

The cabin like home was a nice place to gather with the family for a little time away. It’s a short walk to heavenly village and that’s a great way to avoid the inconvenience of parking. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

Better than the pictures

We went for a family trip with teenagers and middle school aged kids, so the location was excellent for them to walk to the stores and shops. The pictures don’t do the property justice, we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was. We would definitely stay here again.

The house is absolutely wonderful! The rooms, living room, and dining area are very spacious and comfortable. Sally is very communicative and provides thorough information with regards to the house. The location is amazing, it’s about a 5 minute walk to the grocery store and 15 minutes walk to the casinos. Would highly recommend this home!

Great and Memorable Stay!

Our big family loved our stay. The walk to The Heavenly Village was approximately 8 minutes -an easier walk than you may think. Sandy was the best hostess! We wouldn’t hesitate staying at The Bear Necessities again!

The house was beautiful, super clean, well-stocked, and big enough for the 9 of us. Loved that the house was walking distance to everything, which is a huge plus! You can also rent scooters or bikes nearby if you prefer a slightly quicker commute to places. Sandy was extremely helpful throughout the entire stay. She responded immediately to calls and messages and was very accommodating. Overall, highly recommend.

Enough space for the whole family

great house with enough space and modern appliances. Kitchen is super equipped- you dont need to bring anything. A notch better than your usual “good” rental. Some weirdness about thermostat- you basically cant control and program it - its either some preset temperature or you need to adjust every 2-3 hours when another program kicks in. Overall very clean house , may be some comforters on the beds might be better to be replaced - too worn out.

Centrally located and easy to get to. House was emasculate, beds comfy, kitchen well stocked with dishes and utensils. Living room was a bit small but we made the outdoor space our living area til 10 pm. The outdoor space was great.

This home is absolutely gorgeous, wonderful home, plenty of room, huge house, everything you would need for a vacation. Short walk to everything, short drive to Reno.
