Tidal River Retreat That Needs WorkOur 1-week rental in summer was disappointing. We found at our arrival that the bottom of the refrigerator was filled with water, and we had to empty pooled water from the fridge almost daily. Some of our produce was ruined by dirty dripping water. A dehumidifier was full of water when we entered. We ran it from time to time and we emptied it 4 times during the week. The tap water has a rotten-eggs odor, making it unpleasant to wash dishes with or to bathe with, but there was no note about water usage. The owner should invest in a filtration system. We hauled in water jugs. There were no outdoor dining options (A table under a shed was filthy; a heavy picnic table was shoved off into a weedy area at the propertyâs edge.)Too many windows (including the big sliding door in the living area that faces the water) were missing screens â canât take advantage of cross breezes. There was no functioning coffee pot.The second bedroom was too musty to use â unfortunate, because it was the only place with good lighting for reading.Limited water access. No dishwasher, and the kitchen area is oddly lacking in overhead lighting of any kind. The location of this place in a quiet area on a tidal river has potential, but the owner and Vacasa agency need to care more about making it more comfortable and fully usable for vacation renters. We didnât expect luxury, but we also didnât expect, at this price, for it to be more like a âcampâ near the water.
