We stayed here a couple of years ago and was hoping it would be as good as the last time we went. It’s such a stunningly gorgeous hotel, the rooms are so comfy and clean. We’ll be going back again we hope!

The welcome receptionist was lovely. The room was lovely though cheap uncomfortable pillows. There was no food available that night. This stay was for my mother’s funeral. The staff on duty on 27th were appalling. Utterly lacking in any kind of sympathy the bar staff were disinterested, terse and rude. I’ve always stayed there. We held my father’s wake there. Yet it is clearly in decline. A once elegant hotel staffed by lovely folk has now declined to the degree where I will never stay there again. To the staff on duty on 27th, shame on you. Truly.

A very average experience

The room - superior double - looked tired in terms of decor - chipped paint, dirty net curtain, marks on the walls. The towel rail in the bathroom was very rusty and in need of replacement. The tile grout and the shower panel needed a deep clean. The web site and the guide in the room stated that food was available Monday - Thursday. In fact I was advised upon arrival that it is Monday to Wednesday only. The bed was comfortable but overall for the price paid the experience was not good value

Lovely Victorian/Edwardian hotel. We had a very spacious sunlight filled room on the third floor (no lift). Shower open ended without door or curtain 😕 and water ended up all over the bathroom… Breakfast was full English cooked to order with array of fruits and cold options. Would stay again.

This hotel was perfect for my cycling trip to the fens. I chose a single room, but the bed felt more like a 1.5 size in a room that was clean and spacious enough to also store my bike. It was walking distance to the centre of Spalding and OMG, the full English breakfast was tasty! Thanks to all the staff for a great stay!

Recent stay at Cley Hall

Have stayed at Cley Hall a few times now as we really like the Hotel .Staff are all very friendly ,rooms are clean,beds are very comfortable and you get a good breakfast.I was dissapointed this time though as I booked the room we like downstairs which we have stayed in twice previously but on arrival we were told we were in a different room which was separate to the hotel ,I did query this as I was sure I had booked the room downstairs but I was told that I hadn't and I could not prove this at the time .We like the room in the hotel as you do not hear any traffic noise as my Husband is a light sleeper and I prefer to be in the hotel rather than have a door straight from the road into the room. I have just checked my booking with hotels.com and I had booked the business studio (no window)One thing I think would be a good idea ,in the booklet in the room about the hotel and the rooms it would be handy to have instructions on how to use the heating/towel rails ,we did ask but the lady on reception did not know ,it would have been nice just to have heating on low in the evening and also heating on low when having a shower

Room was a bit small but not the fault of the hotel owners. Staff were very polite and very helpful. Well worth a stay but no meals at night for half of the week but plenty of places too eat out in the town. A bit over priced.

The city centre is within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is marvellous, choose between continental, cooked or both. The hotel is on the main road, so during school and home time it is very busy and you can hear the cars, but at night it is very quiet. My room is number 22, on the front door, also on the road, and I could hear all the noises, from the very early baggage landings and cars. The executive room is very spacious, has a walk-in shower and 2 armchairs and a coffee table. The toilet system is old so you hear and wake up when someone flushes the toilet. The location to the city is good, but next time we will choose a quieter place.
