The location of the hotel could not be better; it is in the heart of Split, and very well maintained. The hotel staff is not quite trained in the way you would find in the US... their driver who picked me up at the airport never offered to carry my bag to the car , but rather just walked ahead of me - and then drove like a maniac to the hotel. The receptionist put me in a room where I luckily could hear voices so I knocked instead of using my key, and sure enough, the room was already occupied by another couple. I requested a reservation at a restaurant, but it turned out to be on vacation and closed, but the concierge didn't tell me. The breakfast included in the morning is dreadful - cold, french toast, and coffee like mud - so those are my reasons for the "mixed." The good parts were that the room was lovely, and very comfortable and clean, and the location was dynamite - and the LOCATION and comfort are the ONLY 2 reasons I would recommend it.

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We apologize for not exceeding your expectations. We are really sorry you found the transfer from the airport unpleasant even though the driver has never exceeded speed limits and the ride might have seemed worse because the road is quite curvy. Regarding the room, if a hotel is not full, most of the time there’s no problem giving an early-arriving guest a room. On the other hand, there is no way another guest will be told they need to vacate a room so someone else can have it. The receptionist immediately gave you a free upgrade to a deluxe room. You arrived on August 15th, which is a religious holiday in many countries and if we had known in advance which restaurant you wanted to go to, we would have told you that it could have been closed. Please know that we will be using your feedback to help implement improvements to our facility. We truly hope that you will allow us another opportunity to serve you.
