This property is exempt for doing upgrades and is grossly handicap unfriendly as a result. Getting in and out was extremely difficult.

Service was excellent and our room was same as last year. Breakfast was delicious. Health club was very usable and convenient. only negatives were the code to access the parking garage did not work the first 2 days requiring the front desk to remotely assist us to enter/exit the facility and our room keys were deactivated 2 of the 4 days requiring us to go back to the front desk. This will not stop us from returning as I know these can be resolved.

Very unique and ornate old facility! Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our room was in need of major updating. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable!

Great location.

Pros: It was old, charming, and had character!
Cons: See comments in "experience" above.
Location: It is at the center of city center. Lots of places to eat, shop, visit, movies to see, etc. It's a great location!
The bed was far to soft and like jello. If one person moved, the other person experienced it. Bathrooms need to be renovated. Painted soap dish and floor didn't cut it.

Outstanding value

I will never stay anywhere else in Spokane. The service was outstanding, the building itself is beautiful, and the room would have been a steal for double the price! Great location downtown as well. Definitely in my Top 10 U.S. hotels (having stayed in over 1000). OUTSTANDING!!

Considering the high rating of the hotel, overall

Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: I could forgo a king bed for a smaller bed with a comfortable chair.
Location: Close to downtown shopping that seems to be in a resurgence.
the experience failed to live up to my expectations. First, there was no parking. You can pull up to the front door but there was no assistance available to carry heavy luggage up concrete stairs. My room was mostly bed, no comfortable chair to watch TV in, only a dining room type chair at a desk. It was awkward. The valet staff was to park my vehicle in front of the hotel as I was leaving at 4 am but this was not done so, I walked 1 1/2 blocks, some of it quite dark and past 3 homeless persons sleeping along buildings and in entryways to get to my car that was in the parking garage. I was a little freaked out. Luckily, the hotel staff was very nice and one person walked with me to my car but this was not the experience I had expected for a hotel this expensive and with such a high rating.
