Great building and location. In need of a refurbishment bathrooms seen better days. General paint work shabby kitchen under stocked for 8 guest difficult to make pasta or rice with out using 3 saucepans not enough placements etc. down stairs bedroom which was 2nd master on our stay is tiny needs to be bunk bed 4th room. Apart from that great place! Iâd stay again
Really comfortable house, large sitting room, incredibly well-equipped kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, and good beds. The house overlooks St Ives Bay, and from the windows is that world-famous view of the harbour! It's only 10 minutes walk into town and to the harbour. We chose this property for a winter holiday as, even if the weather was terrible, the views would still be stunning and full of interest. As it happens the weather was beautiful, and we had a wonderful week. The only disappointment was that all the wine glasses and some of the water glasses were really dirty, which was probably down to the previous holidaymakers not washing them properly, but also should have been checked by the housekeepers. Hence 4 stars, sorry, but I felt doubly nervous about this because of the pandemic.
The property has beautiful views of St Ives Harbour and easy access to Porthminster Beach. It was tastefully decorated throughout but there is a shortage of mirrors so come prepared if you like to apply makeup in the mornings! The property is also very well equipped. The dishwasher was broken when we arrived but was fixed within a day or two. Advice to all visiting this house: bring loo roll and soap with you for each of the four loos. Only one loo had soap and toilet paper when we arrived and, as a family of seven who had travelled from Kent, this was less than ideal, not least because there are no shops within quick walking distance. We just wish we had known in advance so that we could at least have been prepared. The check in at 5pm is a bit late really too. The house was cleaned by 12 noon but we had to hang around in St Ives in the rain with my 80 year old parents for 5 hours waiting for a property manager to inspect the cleaning to check it was up to standard ... and that was a tad disappointing since we were told that they would try to get us in earlier than the new 'Covid' 5pm arrival time. This property is not cheap at around ÂŁ2.7k for the week so not being allowed in until 5pm on a Thursday (so not on a busy Saturday changeover date) felt a bit 'unnecessary' - after a very long journey ... (only to find no soap and toilet roll in three of the four loos!!! Did I mention that?!). Despite all of the above, we absolutely LOVED our stay here and the property management contact, Meg, was always quick to answer queries that we had, so we never felt abandoned once we had actually entered the property!
