Place is an old school hotel which had some minor upgrades. The tv had no sound on all channels but BBC. Maintenance guy #1 could not fix it, #2 fed us some bs about the signal, #3 actually fixed it by unplugging the box and plugging back in, which i had to do constantly. The shower had a little better than lukewarm water. No face cloths in the room. The restaurant had fairly good food if you had an eternity to wait for it. One lunch took an hour, one day breakfast was the same. Staff was friendly as lumps of coal. In order to use the stove which was gas, you have to light it with a match! They give you some short little strike on the box matches, half of which didn't work. Grounds were o.k. In short, looked nothing like what was portrayed in the pictures on the Travelocity website. The Hotel should update all photos to reflect the true appearance of the hotel. The staff are wonderful but the facilities are not up to par. If you are the type that can "rough it out" then go right ahead. If you are unable to be at peace if your environment is untidy, then this is not the place for you. I actually ended up staying elsewhere for the entire trip and checked out of the hotel officially just before my flight. The location is great and again, i emphasize wonderful staff. Serious upgrades needed to modernize, more attention needed in cleaning the bathroom, and replace all fittings that are peeling, rusting, or stained.

The room was quite inviting and clean. Staff were helpful especially the receptionist when checking in. Even though we arrived early than checkin time she was able to accommodate us. Very pleasant, courteous, knowledgeable, warm, and professional individual. In the room there was no complimentary coffee or tea but microwave and kettle. Would have been nice to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea on arrival especially for guests arriving late and tired. Place is clean and gardeners friendly. On our first morning our server at breakfast was warm and friendly and interactive but the 2nd morning breakfast server would not look at you as you speak or smile. She needs to make eye contact when taking orders or responding to enquires. We had the opportunity to converse with Marcia, hotel manager which was a delight. She is friendly and warm and approachable. The cleaning lady said very friendly and our room was spotless. What I love most about this place is they always tried their best to make sure your stay is pleasant. Overall, the location is perfect...close to the beach, walking distance to restaurants and bar. I would definitely stay here again. I love sitting on the patio overlooking the waters watching the breathtaking sunrise and sunset while listening to the sound of waves crashing.

Beach view fabulous, staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean bit dated ( we stayed in the original building) pool was clean, but could do with a deep clean. We stayed at Dover beach 35 years ago, so the facilities and building had obviously changed. There was two new buildings and the original one. My comments are based on the original building, so this just needs abit of an update. Would definitely stay again, really enjoyed our break.

Clean and ideally located. Small hotel with friendly staff. Good value for the price. Wish the towels were more readily available. We were told that they had to wash the towels in our room in order to replace them. Gym equipment was dated and one machine did not work. Overall my fiance and I had a good experience staying there. We would stay there again.

The attitude of the staff at the restaurant was absolutely disgusting. Because family and friends felt so upset about the way we were treated by the staff, it ruined part of our vacation. The food as well was really horrible. There was one front desk staff that was really wonderful when we checked in but on the second day the front desk attendant attitude was absolutely horrible. We will never be staying here again.
