St Simons Coolest Dog Friendly Beach Bungalow with Private Heated Pool/Hot Tub!

Cottages of Live Oak, One of St. Simons Best communities is conveniently located off Demere Road, just before Beach Drive. Only a few minutes walk to the Beach or the Village Area make this cottage one of the best locations on the island. Private salt water pool and Hot tub plus great location!!

Kahula's Cottage offers a unique Beach Bungalow style with pine floors, open and spacious rooms, and three (yes, three) porches. Enough porches and patios(5 total) so everyone can find their favorite spot to escape and relax while staying here.

The living area has plenty of seating and a very comfortable slipcovered sofa and loveseat (with full size hide a bed) and chair. A fireplace anchors the light filled room and a beautiful painting by Coastal Artist is hanging over the fireplace. Livingroom opens up to the screened in porch at the far end of the room. The screen porch and Bed Swing will become your favorite spot to relax while staying at Kahlua's Cottage. The dining room table is an antique farm table and seats six to eight. The wall color in the dining room and kitchen reminds you of the color of the Mediterranean or the Caribbean. All the windows in the dining room view the private pool and hot tub. The fully appointed kitchen boast stainless steel appliances, gas stove, Stainless Steel Refrigerator. The unique open viewed glass cabinets above the kitchen peninsula area. filled with colorful glassware. There is patio off the screen porch that has a gas grill and a charcoal grill plus a table and 4 chairs.

The primary bedroom is on the main level and has a queen-size mattress and box springs, dresser and vanity table plus smart tv. The other two bedrooms are upstairs as well as the second full bath and the laundry area and sundeck. One of the upstairs bedrooms has twin beds and the other has a queen size bed . One of the upstairs bedrooms has a small tv. There is a full size hide a bed in the loveseat in the living room. The upstairs sundeck has chairs and side tables. It is the perfect spot to enjoy the warm sunny winter days or watch the stars in the summer.

The front porch has two rockers and a porch swing and beckons you with a wonderful Blue front door. The salt water pool and hot tub were redone in June of 2025 and are the icing on the cake for this very well appointed and relaxing cottage. Hot tub can be heated to 100` by controls located in the home. Pool can be heated to 82`-85` for $90 per day(details for heating pool will be sent to you after full payment is made). Park your car when you arrive and walk to the village or beach. Or rent bikes or golf carts for the best rides on the island. Pet fee if your dog will be joining you is $200 per dog (click on pet fee when booking to include). Enjoy!

We had a wonderful stay at Kahlua’s Cottage. The cottage is clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and serve our Thanksgiving dinner with the family. Location is perfect for riding bikes to the Pier Village, restaurants, shopping and Gould’s Inlet (one of our favorite places on the island). We also loved that it’s pet friendly so we were able to bring our dog. Lots of room for everyone to spread out. We have stayed at many VRBOs on the island and Kahlua’s Cottage is one we would definitely go back to again!

Property manager Beverly was excellent making sure all our travel plans went smooth and very quick to respond with any questions. This house is equipped with anything you might need. Perfect Blend of Pool and Beach

Great property. House and pool were awesome. Having a pool is the way to go on St Simon’s and this is a great place to stay. Beach a few minutes aways so having a golf cart definitely will help. Downtown area, lighthouse and restaurants close and easy to access.

May 2025 perfection

This rental property is exactly the pictures shown. We had dogs with us and there was a great area of small grass right next to the home. One review mentioned there were none but this was not true. It's a nice and quiet neighborhood and felt safe. I also felt the pool area was private. The porches were wonderful to enjoy each morning and evening. The house was so clean which was a strong plus for me. There were two areas where you can easily walk to from the home. Many restaurants and shops nearby. We had one minor issue with the hot tub and owners responded very quickly. It was also an easy fix. We highly recommend this rental property.

House is much larger than it appears in pictures and the downstairs space is fantastic. Weather limited our use of the pool but we squeezed out as much as we could from the one sunny day we had. Will definitely book again.

Spring Break Vaca

Cute cozy eclectic beach bungalow nestled in a small private community. Only five houses in the Live Oak Cottages, super accommodating for multiple families to be close to each other to rent those houses. Great location for riding bikes to The Village, King and Prince etc. This house does back up to Demere Rd so some road noise at night and on the screened porch. Each room had an overhead fan and portable fans were provided which was nice for noise too. Loved the front porch swing and cocktail pool. There is an outdoor shower which was nice, parking can be a little tricky, but a non issue for our family. Bathroom towels were limited, so plan to do some wash while you’re there. Only two towels for the week in Master bathroom. All appliances were in good working order, plenty of hangers in each bedroom with luggage racks. It could use some fresh paint and updates but overall a great vaca for what our family needed!

SSI stay for the 1st time

Great house! Well stocked with great kitchen well supplied. Enjoyed the front porch!Had an issue with hot tub control panel but owner had repair guy out the next morning to replace.Only negative is master bedroom backs up to Demere road which is a little busy during the day!Would stay again! Loved SSI!

Just what we needed!

We really enjoyed our stay at Kaluha’s Cottage. We were looking for a small-ish house, close to beach and everything, dog friendly, and with everything we needed on the first floor. Our dog has a hard time with stairs- so the idea was not to use the second floor. First- St. Simons Island and the surrounding area are beautiful. Lots of beautiful places to visit, great restaurants, quaint shops, and nice nightlife. Highly recommend a visit. The house was very clean, had everything we needed, and looked as nice as advertised. It would comfortably sleep 6 adults. Bathrooms were great- reasonable size. The pool was very nice- with steps that made it easy to get in and out. The porch on the first floor was fantastic- with a large porch swing that was so relaxing. The location was close to everything. Owner was very kind and responsive.There are only two things to keep in mind based on your needs if you are a dog owner. There is only a tiny area of grass on the side of the house. For our dog- this was not ideal as he needs some room to walk. Second- the house is located on a busy, dark street without easy access to large grassy areas nearby when doing potty breaks in the early morning or nighttime (times when it is dark and you are not out and about taking the pup to parks). This was not ideal- but we would stay again if it was a short stay. For a longer stay- dealing with the potty situation would become hard to handle.

As advertised! Cozy bungalow in a beautiful place!

We had never stayed in St. Simon's, but thought we'd try a new place. We are looking for laid back, easily walkable community, a house with a private pool that is well appointed. This one checked all the boxes. The first two days we were riding out Hurricane Debby. Beverly was in touch about the storm path and this was reassuring. Turned out we mostly sat on the swing on the screened in back porch and watched it rain. The island was cleaned up quickly and we were back, but even the morning after the worst of the storm we were able to walk to the pier, see the lighthouse, etc. SSI is a laid back, historically significant, "chill" little beach community. Boys watched TV and played XBox while weather was bad--house was very comfortable for this. When the weather got better, we alternated between a beach at SSI and one at nearby Jekyll Island. A great, reinvigorating trip that was just what we needed. Highly recommend the area as well as Kahlua's Cottage!
