The hotel was very nice the location was great and the beach was beautiful. I like that the rooms have refrigetators and stoves to cook. Checking in and out was easy and the personnel was always very nice. Overall, I had a great experience at Sapphire Beach Resorts.

This is a great property. We were completely satisfied. The view is in comparable. The beach great the bar/restaurant were also good. Food was great at the bar for bar food. Sudi's restaurant was not as good as we would have hoped for food was mediocre. Staff was nice and we had no issues.

A Huge Disappointment!

Pros: The personnel! They were great, friendly and most helpful. I don't think this problem with unacceptable accommodations was their first rodeo.
Cons: I think Travelocity has a responsibility to make sure that their providers are offering the accommodations that are being sold.
Location: Location is great and the Red Hook area has not only great beaches but excellent restaurants, etc.
We (my daughter and I) planned a one night trip to St. Thomas for the sad occasion of my brother's memorial service. Since the scattering of the ashes and the memorial service were both to be in the Red Hook area, we specifically wanted a property nearby. Going through the many hotel options offered by Travelocity in the area, we chose Sapphire Marina over its sister property next store, Sapphire Beach for the explicit reason that it offered two double beds. The next door property, Sapphire Beach did not although it was considerably less expensive. Not only would it have been a less expensive option but several family members would be staying at that property. When we arrive st Sapphire Marina at 1:30 PM on the 24th we were told that it was too early to check in but we could leave our bags and come back. Well, the scattering of the ashes was set for 2PM on a charter boat and we returned to the hotel around 4:30, sweaty and anxious to check in, bathe and get to the memorial service scheduled for 5:30 PM. A very kind and helpful employee, Cameron, was with us when we discovered a room that not only didn't have two beds but was totally run down and unacceptable. The front desk person, Lakeisha, who was also extremely helpful, explained that NONE of their rooms have two double beds and offered to send us to a sister property which is what we decided to do. Before that, we had showered and found that the shower head sprayed all over the bathroom and the tub was very slippery.

Nice hotel, on beach, convently located

there were minor annoyances, fridge didnt keep things cool, lightbulb on balcony needed replacing, one burner on stovetop didnt work. Furnishings were outdated. Those were the nehatives - not terrible. Positives, beach was great, spotless, plenty of beach chairs, Overall the staff was extremely friendly, helpful amd very accomodating. There are almost slways cans at canstand but office will call one for you. You are only a two minute drive to Red hook. The small market there is reasonable. Cab fares are reasonable. A gpod experience overall

A one-star room on a four-star beach with fantastic views!

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants
Cons: No free Internet, Noisy
We originally booked the Beachfront Suite. When we arrived, our first impression wasn't that good. The area between the main entrance and the building is somewhat barren and not well maintained. Upon checking into our room, we realized the TV didn't work, the in-room safe didn't work, the sliding door screen was off the track, fridge was rusty, and the room was very well worn (used and abused) overall. The staff upgraded us at no additional charge to a Beachfront Villa. The villa was in much better shape, but still had some minor issues (phone didn't work, paint peeling on bathroom ceiling, some lights didn't work, in-room safe did not work, etc). That being said, the Beachfront villa had a very cool townhouse layout with a full kitchen, two balconies, and some of the most awesome views we've experienced in traveling to St. Thomas /St. John. Another plus was having Sapphire Beach just a short walk from our room. The beachfront is absolutely beautiful with a great reef for snorkeling.

Older resort - not for the pampered type, but the adventurer

Pros: Close restaurants, Quiet, private
Cons: no planned activities
Please read to the end, it's the essence of why I want to go back: I was "upgraded" to the beach from the village upon my arrival, with no askance or extra charges (I think they made a booking mistake). The room was older, the kitchenette had "basic" cooking utensils, the bath tiles were worn, the cleaning staff barely did their job, the front desk was "put out" by any questions or requests, but there were always fresh towels. By the same token, they did not bother the guests. I don't want a knock at my door every 5 minutes to see if I need something. The bed was good. There were no restaurants open, just a hot dog cart, and the farel cats were everywhere, and so was their smell. But I'm a cat lover, and left food (at the designated refuse recepticles - oops, it fell on the ground). This said, the views were unparelled, the weather was wonderful, the people that we met genuine, and I can't wait to go back - especially to the same room that we had. I wish this site allowed photos - mine are magnificant. PS Jeffi will always take you anywhere that you want to go - as long as it's to "dinner". We dined and partied at Red Hook, had a wonderful fishing trip that departed next door from the resort ( I caught a 35 pound Cobia), went shopping and sight seeing, snorkeling, dining, swimming. If you want a 5 star vacation, go ahead. I don't think you could top this trip. It's all what you make it! PSS - There is no one on the beach after dark.

Seen better days

Pros: Quiet
Cons: Poor breakfast
You can tell this property was one something to behold. Those days have come and gone. This place needs a serious upgrade. Travelocity should actually be ahamed to have it in its inventory. I am really not among the most particular guests. This hotel really did leave a lot to be desired. It's less than just a basic room. It does have the basics but everything is pretty much old or unattractive. The room is clearly someones personal condo. There items were still in a clost that didnt close. The refrigerator was rusted on the outside. The wicker chair was falling apart. The tiles in the shower were broken. The lattice covering on the patio was warped and falling down. The beach was pretty nice. The property overall seems rather deserted. The staff were nice. The continental breakfast is a joke. The bed was fairly comfortable and the air conditioner worked well. I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Property should be CONDEMNED !

Cons: scary place !
If you value your safety and belongings DON'T stay at this resort ! Opon arriving we found that the property was run down and barely functioning. We viewed 3 different rooms on the property and all were badly needing maintence and updating. The locks on doors are not secure, lights didn't work, 30 year old appliances and furnishings, no safes in rooms to lock valuables. The photo's on web must have been taken 20 years ago as this isn't how the place apprears now. We opted to loose our prepaid reservations and found another hotel on the island for the same price that was clean & updated. There are many beaches/resorts to stay on St. Thomas without having to sleep with one eye open at this resort !!

Beautiful Location

Pros: Quiet, beautiful view
Cons: Poor breakfast, free internet not available in room
This was an older facility - and the staff (while very friendly and accomodating) operated on "Island Time". The view from the room was spectacular. We looked out directly to the water and had only a short (30 yards - maybe) to the beach. If you are going to be near the water this is the place to be. The snorkeling was wonderful - there was a reef right there with myriad water creatures.
