Ligford Cottage is situated just 5 minutes outside the town of Strabane in County Tyrone in the peaceful countryside of the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Located on an elevated site it gives you outstanding views as far as Mount Errigal and across the Bluestacks mountain range in County Donegal. It is a fantastic starting point to explore all the history and beauty that the north of Ireland has to offer.
The house itself has three bedrooms, all with double beds, one of the bedrooms has its own toilet. There is also a travel cot which can be set up in one of the rooms and a main bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is a fully functioning kitchen which has been set up and designed to have everything you would have at home (including an air fryer) and a utility room with a washing machine. The living room has an open fire and is the perfect place to sit and relax at anytime of the day, either to read a book or watch your favourite tv show. There is a large garden to the front of the house and plenty of on-site parking
Based at the foot of the Sperrin mountain range there is an abundance of hiking options and walking trails to suit all ages and levels within the local area including the Gortin Glens which is only a 15 min drive and also offers mountain bike trails. This is a fantastic spot for those visiting Strabane or the local area for fishing as the town itself is only 5mins away. It offers you everything you will need from shopping to restaurants and bars and the local tourist information office is a great starting point to discover everything that is happening in the area.
The beautiful County of Donegal is just 10mins away and within one hour of its world famous pristine beaches where you can brave the cold and take a dip in its crystal clear waters, hire out a kayak or for the more adventurous type surf in one of the many fantastic surfing spots. The Giants Causeway and UNESCO World Heritage Site is 1hr15min drive. No trip to the North of Ireland would be complete without visiting what the Irish call ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World’ and nearly 1 million tourists a year visit here.
The city of Derry/Londonderry which is steeped in hundreds of years of history right up to the current day is a 25min drive away or you can easily catch a bus there from Strabane. It has everything you could wish to find, from shopping centres to boutique shops, restaurants and bars, museums and tours of the historic city walls which where built in the early 1600s.
