Winter Way Cabin near Pinecrest

Private vacation cabin near Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Area, in the central California Sierras. If you are looking for a cabin experience in a peaceful forest setting, here it is. Our Winter Way cabin in Strawberry is set in a peaceful forest surrounded by trees, the S. Fork Stanislaus river and Strawberry meadow, with a cabin neighbor on only one side (neighboring vacant land provides seclusion but is privately owned and trespassing is prohibited). While the cabin has most of the comforts of home, it is "unplugged" with no WiFi or landline telephone and limited cell service (depends on carrier) and television reception. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the amazing nature and scenery, sit and relax on the large deck overlooking the river, throw a line in the river for a morning of fishing, or just sit and soak in the Hot Tub (operating condition not guaranteed).

Restful Cottage
We had a just right stay in Strawberry with our sweet dog and young teenage sons! A break from the Internet with lots of different DVD's, games/puzzles (though we just ended up playing the ones we brought) and easy drives to our outdoor play areas were appreciated. We had a beautiful April snow with saucers available and built a couple of snow people. Though some upgrades to the cottage have been completed, I preferred the hominess and ease that the cottage brought to our stay. The cottage had great cooking tools and the beds were plentiful. Thank you for opening your home to our family, including our fur baby!

Nice winter cabin in the woods
Cabin is in a nice location looking down on a snow covered meadow and stream with majestic pine trees around the area. This was our second stay and we have found it to be excellent for a winter outing.

True Getaway
To take advantage of our son’s last week of paternity leave, with his 5 year and 5 month old kids, we chose the Winter Way Cabin, knowing next to nothing about Pinecrest, Dodge Ridge, or Strawberry beyond what we’ve seen driving through on 108. This is a special landscape, with the beautiful S. Fork of the Stanislaus flowing nearby and a wonderful collection of homes and cabins, both new and historic making up this rustic, wooded community. The cabin is nicely appointed with indoor and outdoor spaces, generous enough for all of us to play and relax.

Strawberry Winter Cabin
Check in was a breeze, cabin was in excellent location (near Dodge Ridge, river, and Strawberry Inn/store), hot tub was a nice addition, kitchen was well stocked. Only downside we’re the upstairs beds that were a bit uncomfortable and old.
