This area is the gateway to the Gower; once youâve settled in, it is recommended you head to the Gower to take in some of Walesâ most beautiful coastline. Gower is home to over thirty beaches and coves, many are dog-friendly, and most are just a 20-minute drive. Five minutes from your doorstep there are cycle paths (car free, mostly flat and family friendly) that can take you to Mumbles or, if you are feeling energetic, Pembrey Country Park with its 8-mile-long sandy beach and plenty of activities for kids. There are around 27 miles of cycle paths to explore in Gower and many more footpaths. With great access to the M4 from the cottage you could even venture further. Head west for more stunning coastline and scenery, or east if you are looking for the hustle and bustle of a city (Swansea, Cardiff, and Bristol). If you plan on ditching the car for the day, you can hop on the train from the station in the village, a direct train to Cardiff is a little over an hour away.

Communication prior to the booking date was pretty poor. The hosts are through a different company and so it was very hard to get a response to messages through VRBO. The track up to the cottage was in very poor condition, although it is said by the owner's that they don't own it so they can't do anything about it. The cottage itself is lovely, warm and spacious with almost everything you need for your stay (apart from any cleaning supplies).I would also point out there's an information book in the cottage which has a lot more stuff in it which I feel should have been provided prior to the stay. This would include my point of the cottage being dog tolerant, not dog friendly as they're not allowed in the bedrooms or on any furniture. So this was quite distressing for my old dog who usually sleeps in our bedroom in her own bed. We could also hear the cottage next door talking when we were trying to sleep, they weren't being loud just talking and laughing but obviously the walls between seem to be fairly thin.A strong suggestion would be to install a light outside the back, it was impossible to let the dogs out to the toilet out there in the evening as we couldn't see a thing. This meant we had to take them out the front and on lead, which wasn't ideal for them as they like to go to the toilet off lead. That being said, we did enjoy our stay here. The cottage is really lovely and we would stay here again as it's ideally situated for all our family and beach visits.
