Room was in fact spotless. Don't recommend lounging on the pull out couch but soon gave up on telly n went back in the hot pool anyway 😅 Bed was mint. Loved it. Super lovely hostess. Totally staying here again.

Great location, clean room and great staff. Left a car parked for a few hours and when we returned to leave for home they came out and told me I’d left something in the room and gave it back to me. I’d happily stay again, thanks!

Hidden Paradise

I'm currently suffering from sciatica. The bed was quite cozy and didn't hurt my back. The spa tub came in clutch. There are a lot of food options. Lionel's is great if you have the coin. Dough Bros was a go-to for pizza. Catch 22 is your fish and chips spot. Grab some disc golf discs and enjoy one of the top 100 courses in the world at Spa Park. Just watch out for the big roll away on hole 12, and ask yourself Why Are Trees (YouTube Nate Sexton) on hole 17.

Loved our stay

Beautiful spot looking directly across to lake Taupo. Very friendly owners very nice and clean facilities. And homemade cookies a very nice and personal touch. Close to shops and restaurants. Only downer is a small amount of mould on the ceiling in the bedroom Probably due to the poximity of the hot tub. All in all a positive experience lovely and clean i would definitely recommend a stay at the Gabels clean warm and very friendly

We absolutely enjoyed our stay here for the last 4 nights. The owners are lovely and accomodating. Lots of privacy and the spa was enjoyable! The room was spotless on arrival and the cleaners were respectful when approaching our room for a service. Everything was super clean, the only thing we noticed was the spa area had a smell to it. Outside only Other than that, thank you for having us! We’ll definitely be back.

You'd be hard pressed finding another property with better value for money. The property itself is even better than the pictures, you're located right across the road from the beautiful lake with views of Mt Ruapehu, all amenities are easily accessible, the rooms are spacious, peaceful, clean and in excellent condition. We were lucky enough to have a room with a spa - perfect way to unwind and warm up. Best of all is the service - the two owners are the nicest, most thoughtful people. Prior to checking in they called to see when I'd arrive so they could preheat the room before I got there; the home baked shortbread was also a lovely added bonus!

Lovely and welcoming hosts. Room was very clean, warm and comfortable. A little worn down in a few areas but nothing that caused any issues. The layout worked great for our family of 5 with plenty of space and privacy for everyone. We would definitely stay again.
