During our stay we had 2 reservations, first room was alright, but a bit noisy outside. But the second room was covered in black mold and smelt bad, causing my partner to get sick. When asked to change rooms, they were unable to change due to limited vacancies but noted they would do a "mold cleaning". Upon returning the next day they noted we needed to switch rooms as the mold was too bad to clean. The hotel itself is very close to the station and had many food options around, but we would not recommend staying here due to the health risks present.

This was my first time in Japan and my stay at this hotel made my experience very smooth. It was close to the train station which was very convient. It is literally across the street from a 7/11 and other convenient stores incase I needed anything. The man who checked me in spoke very good English and explained the housekeeping policy. Pretty much everything is just like a hotel here in the US with its own Japanese influence. Highly recommended for those looking for a budget friendly, but comfortable choice. It was just me, but having a partner would have been doable. The bed/room is on the smaller side when compared to what you see in the US as with most things you find in Japan. But I dont pack a lot and dont spend a lot of time at the hotel except to rest/sleep. The room had a small fridge, a great bath/shower and plenty of plugs (2 pronge). No safe, so bring locks for anything you leave in the room while you are out.

Incredible value. Very convenient location- train station 1 minute away. Incredible selection of restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and shops in the area. Hotel is in great condition given its age. Room decor and furniture is dated, but very well maintained. Highly recommend.

The property was what youbexpect from a business hotel, clean but basic very close to public transports and concenience stores. The area around the hotel is quiet but there are options for shopping and dining. The hotel staff were always happy and friendly and always willing to help if you had questions. And the breaskfast had a large selection of very tasty local food whoch i found very enjoyable

Unlike some of the hotels I stayed in, this hotel puts a mattress topper on the bed. Also they have sliding shutters on the window so you can block out the light for a Nanna nap. Also great location for trains to Tokyo or Shibuya - plus food and shopping.

I like everything at the hotel. Staff is very helpful and friendly, the cleaning staff does great work, the hotel is very convenient with the washer, the amenities, Jonathan's, near Shinkoiwa station, great restaurants and shopping around. Great location 2 min from station. Great price! Roughly 1000cad for 7 nights!! 20 min metro to Akihabara! Used their luggage storage free of charge, small room but honestly great for the price compared to other hotels in Tokyo, I’m only here to sleep, the main attraction is exploring!! Thank you Smile Hotel Shinkoiwa!!
