The Mudcastle is the home of Glenys Johnston, who extends a warm welcome to her guests. The castle was hand-built quite literally from the ground up over many years. Each brick and floor tile has been crafted using local materials and each leadlight window has been created specifically for the space in which it sits.
The Mudcastle is surrounded by beautiful gardens which guests are welcome to relax in. We are minutes away from some of the region’s iconic wineries such as Neudorf Vineyards and a short drive from many other attractions such as Mapua Wharf and the Abel Tasman National Park.
Glenys was both born in the region so when it comes to helping you with your itineraries, she has a wealth of local knowledge and some very special, little-known places they can recommend. She lives in separate quarters on the property, and will be there to welcome you and answer any questions you may have while your group’s privacy is maintained.
You group will be the only guests staying at the Mudcastle and you will have exclusive use of the entire Castle. Ample free parking is provided in front of the castle.
As The Mudcastle is located in the countryside, we recommend you have your own transport to get around and explore everything the Nelson-Tasman region has to offer.
Suitable for groups of up to 16 people (20 max, with 4 guests on additional single beds or rollaway beds, by arrangement only, $55 extra per bed per night), guests can spread out across the entire castle across 8 enchanting suites and cosy bedrooms.
