We arrived in heavy rain, and the owner, brought out broken umbrellas. He initially said we couldnât drive up to drop off bags but allowed it in the end because of the weather.
The property looked decent at first, but once inside our âbest room,â the reality hit hard.
The room stank of stale, dirty odours. The bathroom smelled like awful, persistent drain fumesânot just a normal toilet smell. The kettle was filthy, and the water came out cloudyâluckily, I noticed before drinking it.
Everything was grimy and thick dust: bed, towels, furniture, even the disposable slippers looked decades old and used.
We couldnât face staying here for even one night and checked out within hours. We booked a 5-star hotel nearby for just ÂŁ100 more than we paid hereâtotally worth it.
The worst part? The owner ignored all our attempts to communicateâno apology, no explanation, no refund. Expedia tried to help but couldnât secure one. This kind of customer service is shocking and unacceptable.
The charming exterior is worlds apart compared to the filthy, neglected interior. Our anniversary trip was ruined, and we had to scramble for another hotel at extra cost and stress.
Hotels donât need to be fancyâjust clean, welcoming, and responsive. This place was none of those. Avoid Manoir des Cavaliers.
