The refrigerator freezer had not been properly cleaned as smelled like fish including ice cubes and trays. We cleaned with soap and water and dumped ice a few times but did not totally remove smell. So we just purchased ice and left in bag.
Condo very spacious, very clean, well equipped, and even ocean views, albeit slightly distant. Short walk to shopping. Only slight drawback is second floor without elevator for seniors like us. Otherwise, extremely satisfied and would definitely stay here again!
I rented three condos in this neighborhood. This one by far was the best condo for its price. The area was great and well-maintained. Very close to restaurants and shopping and very close to the beach.
Love The Shores, and this unit is great for a couple get away. Very quite area of Waikoloa Beach. Not really ocean front, but you do have a view from the lanai. Only comment would be access to buggy boards, bikes, and other sports gear. As stated not much in cooking supplies, but I think this has more to do with reaction to Covid, than stocking, so buy your salt and pepper. Hope this turns some VRBOers off so we can always get the unit.
This condo could be great. Nice location, very spacious, large lanai with really pleasing views over the golf course to the ocean in the distance, even a peak at Mauna Kea from the other side of the lanai. But the kitchen is not in great condition ( the cabinets are gross inside) and it is poorly outfitted for anyone hoping to do any cooking or even nicely serving a meal brought in. The only wine glasses are plastic and there arenât many dishes, pots/pans or utensils; not to mention virtually nothing nice for serving or even decent placemats to use on the table on the lanai. Sadly, the decor is really lacking as well, very generic. We stayed in an identical unit several years ago and it was stunning. The pool & spa are nice, although they close on the early side. We had a good stay but this unit is nothing special.
My husband and I stayed in the property for four nights. It is a large second-floor one bedroom condo with a lovely view. The pictures show the lava field that is adjacent to the condo, but they don't show the golf course that backs up to it and the view of the ocean in the distance. We watched the sunset from the balcony and it was really lovely. The lava field is quite small compared to the expansiveness of the view and that isn't visible in the pictures online. The community is quiet and restful.
The rental group (Maui Condo and Home) made the check-in and check-out process absolutely painless. They provided very detailed instructions via email that made it easy to find the unit even when arriving on a dark night.
My only suggestion would be to equip the kitchen a bit more. The knives were in poor condition and made it very difficult to cut a carrot or apple. There are no basics like salt/pepper/cooking oil provided. The bed and bedding were comfortable. The bathroom was large and easy-to-use.
I definitely recommend this condo!
Condo was spacious and clean. Someone previously had written that the kitchen amenities were thin, but we found them reasonably on par with other places. Not chef-grade, but sufficient to whip up breakfast and a sandwich lunch so we could splurge on dinner (highly recommend walking to the nearby Lava Lava Beach Club for the bestâspendiestâ-mai tais). Pool and hot tub right across the street. Veranda overlooks the third hole and you can glimpse the ocean beyond (which is as close as we want to be, since we donât like being on top of the waves, as it keeps us awake at night). This place was so peaceful.
We come for the snorkeling, so we didnât mind that the Village is half an hour away from town, because the resort is so well stocked with a market and restaurants (and delicious shave ice!). When on-premises, we could ditch the car and walk everywhere: the beach, the market, restaurantsâ-and even a PETROGLYPH field (!!).
Would stay here again, absolutely.
The condo is very nice but not as equipped as other condotwr have stayed in. Very limited kitchen dishes and pans. Also although they tell you that only the basics are there- they really are! No spices, oils or any of the extras that you normally get in a condo. More like a hotel room.
Not bad buy just be aware.
This particular property was sparsely furnished, one teeny tv in the living room, none in the bedroom, lumpy couch bed, hardly cooking equipment, shower didn't drain (had to call for maintenance), but good location. Spent most of the time at the pool and/or at the other condo that the parents rented down the road. BUT having a condo vs a hotel room was worth it... Just expect to have to do an attitude adjustment when working in someone else's kitchen! Missed my stuff!
