5 day break in Whitby

My friend, I & great nephew 13yrs enjoyed a very comfortable stay at this property. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated though the white furniture could do with a lick of paint. Having both a bath & a shower was great. Kitchen was well equipped , clean & a welcome pack was left for us. However the kitchen itself could do with being modernised . Lounge was very comfortable & bright. Lots of nice pictures & ornaments around the house which made it welcoming. The entrance flooring could do with being changed as it was old & worn. We enjoyed using outdoor area at back of house which had a table & chairs. Flooring in kitchen could do with being changed as like entrance was old & well worn. Wifi was great downstairs but didn’t reach top floor. We had easy access to all the main attractions & amenities in Whitby. All were in walking distance . I hadn’t appreciated the house was on 3 floors when I booked.

Super stay in Whitby

We had a wonderful stay! The property was spotless, well-maintained, and just minutes from shops and restaurants—super convenient. The host was incredibly helpful and responsive, making everything easy from start to finish. We especially appreciated the thoughtful gift basket on arrival (and milk in the fridge)—it was a lovely touch. Highly recommend!

Penrith House

An excellent base in an ideal location. The contact with the owner was great, all instructions were clear and concise. The cottage itself was ideal for our needs. The two grandchildren loved it here. Two of the bedrooms have great views of the Abbey. One possible issue is that two of the bedrooms are on the third floor, so anyone with mobility issues would struggle. But if mobility isn't a problem I cannot recommend it enough.

Easter in Whitby

A big, spacious and very substantial house rather than a cottage. Full of character and old charm. Located in the very centre of Whitby so close to anywhere you want to go. It’s a cobblestoned street, narrow, quirky and full of history. Only one inconvenience was lack of outside parking. You can unload your luggage in front of the house and the host supplies a parking pass so you can park free at nearby car park. However the pass doesn’t warrant a space. I supposed it’s something you need to put up with if you want to stay at such a cool location. We had a great time and most definitely would stay there again!

Sunny long weekend

We were pleased with how central the property is - with a 5 year old and 2 year old it was lovely to be able to walk everywhere. The rooms were lovely and the house was well equipped. We were surprised to see the ghost tour stops right outside the house, but didn’t dwell on that too much!

Amazing property & stay

The photos do not do the property justice! Warm, welcoming, spotless a lovely cottage. The location was amazing with sea views from the top bedroom and a short walk into town and the beach. Bedding was clean, excellent quality, beds and pillows very comfy. Kitchen though small is very workable with all utensils anyone needs. Hilda communicated throughout from the initial booking right through to the morning of our arrival where she allowed us early access to the property. My husband and I, our friends and their dog Lola had an amazing time. We would highly recommend the property and we will definitely be booking again. Again Hilda thank you for an amazing stay.

Perfect location & cosy stay

A great holiday home in a perfect central location. Bigger than expected which was a nice surprise with a gorgeous bathroom. Warm & cosy with plenty of hot water for baths & showers. Lots of original features and a secret little outside hideaway sun trap at the back perfect for a morning cuppa. Easy to unload luggage despite being such a narrow one way road and lovely and clean through out. Can highly recommend. The constant contact with the friendly host was reassuring and the surprise early check in time was a real bonus. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Lovely house in a great location

We were four adults and a dog, staying at the house for a three night break in February. The location is absolutely perfect - just a stone's through away from the harbour but slightly back from the hustle and bustle. The house is lovely with well thought out equipment in the kitchen and throughout. The owner was very responsive with any queries we have. We would definitely choose to stay here again. Thank you.

Enjoyable stay in a great location

The property was good value, comfortable and well equipped and we liked the rustic style - our friends had two dogs and we were more relaxed the decor wasn't 'show-home' level, but it was all still charming. The house was located very centrally in town within a couple of minutes walk to the town centre shops and restaurants, and to the famous Abbey, as well as beautiful beaches. There is also a great view of the abbey from the front windows and you can also see the sea from one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is very compact but well equipped, and we managed to squeeze all 6 of us around the kitchen table by pushing one side against the wall. The large bathroom has a good sized walk-in shower and lovely roll-top bath and there is always hot water available. We really enjoyed out stay and would stay here again if we were back in Whitby. Finally, Hilda was a great with communication and answered all our questions promptly.

Competitive price and a great location

From receiving the arrival details to leaving the property at the end of our stay, we couldn’t fault a single thing. Hilda was informative regarding the check in procedure, there were biscuits crisps and pop on the table for us, and the house was lovely and warm. The cosy electric ‘log burner’ style fire made the lounge feel even more cosy The property was extremely clean, the bedding lovely and the beds comfy. The property is located in an excellent spot right in the heart of things which we felt was perfect for our weekend break and yet was still nice and quiet whenever we were indoors. We would definitely stay here again.
