Whitby is a proud seafaring town; you can find out more at the museums or even first hand up at the abbey ruins. Walk through the whale bone archway on the West Cliff or visit the shipwreck on Saltwick Bay and look up into the cliffs to spot the smugglersâ tunnels. For those who wish to experience the wonders of this inspiring area, why not take a long, lazy walk amid the scenic beauty of the North York Moors National Park, which can be accessed by the heritage steam train winding its way through the rolling hills of heather? You can also explore quaint coastal villages such as Robin Hoodâs Bay, Staithes or Runswick Bay. Take in the sights along the seafront at Filey, Scarborough or Saltburn. And if youâre a history buff, take a trip into York to soak up the culture brought by both the Romans and the Vikings. Closer to home, the town of Whitby has the long golden stretch of sandy beach, the 199 steps up to the St Maryâs Church perched on the cliff top, the boat trips and the freshly caught fish and seafood. Beach Ÿ mile.
Cleveland House can be booked together with Cleveland Apartment (UK41641) accommodating up to 8/10 guests, with a lockable connecting door between the two.
A very nicely set up property. We found the space to be excellent and the decor was nice and modern. Location is good for Whitby but there is a large hill! The only improvement would be to have a washing machine that aside I would recommend this property.

A great place to stay in Whitby within walking distance to the town and amenities.
A great place to stay in Whitby within walking distance to the town and amenities. Can be difficult to initially find as the sat nav takes you to Park Terrace which is the rear of the property. However using the pictures of the property, I was able to identify it and the parking space out front. I wasn't the only one struggling as half way through our week, we were awoken to a family trying to get into the house key safe at midnight, looking for 3 Park Terrace, also a holiday rental! The house itself is well equipped with pretty much everything needed, also being nicely decorated to a modern standard. The only thing lacking was a washing machine despite having the plumbing for one. If you've been to the beach with a large family, it would have been nice to wash clothes and dry them somehow. If you're on holiday for a week or more, you'd probably expect this in a house from what I've encountered before.Another point to be aware of is that the house is split into two. The basement is rented out separately with rear access known as Cleveland Studio. There are stairs joining the floors with a stair gate including a notice, alongside an internal door being all that separates both rentals. You can hear the TV of the basement rental and they can also hear you walking about. My wife was a little concerned that it appeared the door separating both was not locked so felt a little unnerved. You can also get a nice waft of smoke if those in the basement rental sit outside their rear patio with your ground floor kitchen window open! The only other niggle I'd state is a welcome hamper was noted on the website prior to booking. If that is meant to be a few coffee sachets and tea bags although appreciated, I wouldn't call it a hamper by any means.Overall though, great place to stay and would potentially return if going back to Whitby.
