Hotel was nice staff was fine. Appearance was nice. My issue was no hot water when we arrived or the next day. Access from the parking lot to the room wasn’t working. Lastly the ice machine was out of order.

I had to check out early because their hot water heaters broke, so no hot water. I’m sorry but can’t take ice cold showers. I did ask for a partial refund and never heard anything. They told me all they needed was my room number.

There was no hot water in the entire hotel. This was explained at check in and I was told we would get a credit. We stayed here just as a place to lay our heads for a lacrosse tournament so I was fine with that. I was given keys to a room to check into. When I went into that room someone’s personal items were in there indicating that room was already occupied. I go back to the front desk. I explained this and was given keys to another room. This room only had one bed and I had booked two queens. I was then told there were no two beds available. I slept on what appeared to be an oversized chair and used my coat as a blanket since there wasn’t one in the room and I didn’t want to battle the lobby again. I suggested this hotel to 3 other families as a great spot to stay and they did as well so I was very disappointed and most likely won’t be staying here again considering nothing was done to help the situation.

I stayed at the Sonesta Select Newark Christiana Mall in November 2025, and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. There was no hot water during my entire stay, and management did not provide any updates or a timeline for when it would be fixed. Why stay at a hotel if you can’t even take a proper shower? They offered to cancel customers' reservations without penalty, but where am I supposed to go last-minute and pay extra? The cleanliness was also unacceptable -- the nightstand was sticky, the bed sheets had brown/black stains, and the bathroom was unkept, with toothpaste marks on the faucet and a tub that wouldn’t drain. These problems are easily fixed. There was an odd aroma throughout the room. Overall, the room felt neglected and poorly maintained. I expected far better from a Sonesta. I would not recommend this property until the management addresses these maintenance and housekeeping issues.
