Nice welcome by a nice owner whom we could talk withand interested in his guests.
We where in a comfortable and large bedroom, compared with other guest houses.
We are a french family, 2 adults and 2 children (14 and 17) and we spent 3 lovely nights at John and Marjorie's Guest House. A very good and heavy breakfast and our room was very large and comfortable. Not many restaurants around but there are two 24/24 hours open supermarkets at less than 3 kms and you can cook in the guest house. We were able to visite Edimburgh (40 min driving) ans Glasgow as well (30 min). John and Marjorie are extremely kind and helpful. Near perfect.
Overall, a really good stay and excellent value for money.
The decor etc. is quite dated and a little tired in places, but comfortable and generally clean, and the owner was extremely helpful and welcoming. A great breakfast with good quality ingredients.
Some attention to detail with cleaning would be helpful - eg some mould in shower, and bathroom fan grill quite grimy, the odd cobweb, and some accumulated dust in nooks and crannies. But could not fault bedding, towels etc., and the bed was very comfortable.
Host very welcoming and gave all information very clearly. Room and ensuite very clean and comfortable. Food freshly cooked and very good. If I am near the area again will definitely be back. Very convenient for Edinburgh airport
The owner was friendly and responsive to our requests.
Was disappointed that owner was not willing to work with us for 3rd day booked, as we called 2 hours past cancellation time- so could not cancel .even though we had a family emergency
Lovely warm greeting! Helped us with recommendations for food and visits in the local area, very tasty breakfast and a comfortable new fashioned room. Thank you so much for making our stay enjoyable!
This is a guest house/bed and breakfast, so can't really compare it to a hotel.
In general it's very good, staffs are friendly, bed is comfortable, room is clean, if I have to moan about it, one of the towel is a little passed its best and frails at its edges and that's about it.
As we were traveling to Aberdeenshire we booked a 1 night stop over on our outbound and return journey.
The owner and his staff were very friendly and accommodating.
He provided us with a short history of the property which had been in his family for 4 generations.
The rooms during both our stays were clean and comfortable with a team / coffee making facilities on the room and shower / toilet room attached.
Breakfast was wonderful and set us up for the day.
I would stay again and would recommend
