Great hotel
Hotel was comfortable staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was excellent rooms were large with large shower in the bathroom. The staff made us feel at home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful location on the river, with access to City Cruisers which takes you straight into York center. Wonderful field for our dog to run around in which was a 30second walk from the pub. Local people and the staff were very friendly. The room, when you first enter appears lovely and it is nicely decorated. However the owners could benefit from spending the night in the bed there and trying to see the small details that mark them down and improving them. There were cobwebs covering the ceiling and the toilet had dirt and a floating dead fly. There was under half a toilet roll on the holder and the small amount of complimentry body wash in the shower had been mixed with water to get the dregs out. The blanket on the bed smelt like it needed a good wash, the tv aerial reception wasn't that good and the cupboard door was unable to stay closed unless we wedged it shut with a spoon! Dinner was acceptable but food, I don't think, is their strong point. Which was further displayed by there being no breakfast because I quote "the chef had done a runner" and no coffee because "the machine was broken". Having now read previous reviews, I now see a common theme. I appreciate it is a dog friendly pub so with that I am always willing to keep quiet about most things but for £120 I would expect a coffee at the very least but also a warm breakfast as advertised. I really REALLY wanted to love this pub, and I truly appreciate the kindness the owners show towards dogs.

Very good pub run by a charming young couple. Good beer and an excellent Continental breakfast. Maybe could do with the addition of fruit and yoghurt? Room was modern, clean and very comfortable.

Disappointing return visit
Stayed last year and had a amazing stay so decided on a return visit with parents for the racing Unfortunately under new management. No tea/coffee/sugar/milk or water in room Found out late evening no breakfast either - even though it was clearly stated when booking - croissant and piece of cake left outside room as a continental breakfast Extremely disappointed They had a coach load arrive for a pre booked breakfast but could not supply for paying guests

Not great to be honest (To date my only negative review). Noise from bathroom cupboard, rubbish left on bedside table. No breakfast, or dinner available (This was not adequately detailed prior to arrival). I did notice another guest have all the same issues I encountered.
