Escape to Birchwood Suite

Escape from the monotony of daily life to Fairbanks, Alaska at Birchwood Escape! Nestled on Murphy Dome, surrounded by birch trees with a view like none other in the Fairbanks area; this one bedroom vacation rental is complete with a full kitchen and living room area with a full entertainment center. The goose down comforter on the queen size bed is very comfortable but I bet you'd rather be outside enjoying Alaska in its finest. A large comfortable sofa enables this property to accommodate 3 guests. If desired, renters may have access to traditional native parkas, furs, hats, and more for photos to remember your time at Birchwood Suite. A short 14 miles west of Fairbanks allows full views of the Northern Lights. During the summer, we are a short 10 minute drive to the top of Murphy Dome. Come enjoy all that Birchwood Suite has to offer.

There is no public transportation to this location. We are 20 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and 25 minutes from downtown Fairbanks. Uber and taxi service is available in Fairbanks however, they are expensive and may be inconvenient. A rental car is the best choice when staying with us. We strongly recommend that guests visiting us in the winter rent an AWD vehicle.

Birchwood Suites is so far above the highest rating you can get. The suite is beautifully decorated with high end pro cookware, plush towels, everything you could possibly want. The hosts, Tim & Stacie, are the absolute best hosts we’ve ever had with VRBO. They had fresh eggs, homemade raspberry jam, bread, butter, Alaskan coffee, and fresh flowers for us upon arrival. That kindness and thoughtfulness is rare. The house is tucked away on Murphy Dome, quiet and peaceful. The view from the house is incredible. We saw the northern lights every night from the driveway. This place is a slice of heaven. If you don’t stay there you are missing out.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here and it won’t be the last! It’s spacious, well stocked and the owners are so welcoming and gracious. We didn’t lack for a single thing. The location is safe and very convenient to Fairbanks but also feels like you’re nestled in the woods. One night we didn’t even have to go in search of the northern lights because it was right there! The combination is absolute perfection

I loved the location of this property. It was far enough from the city to enjoy nature but not so far as to make it inconvenient. Beautiful and peaceful

First class accommodation! Exceptionally comfortable bed and linens. The towels were big and fluffy. The kitchen was very well equipped with cookware and utensils. Enjoyed my morning coffee outside each day with that amazing view! Everything was so nice and clean and all the personal touches were really appreciated. I mean, a fresh baked loaf of bread on the counter with a jar of homemade raspberry jam? Wow! Was a wonderful stay and will be my first choice whenever I get to visit Fairbanks!

Near Murphy's Dome

The rental is clean and comfortable. We were staying in Alaska to see the lights and this spot is very easy access to Murphy's dome, which was perfect. Whenever we needed to rest up from the long nights out the property was quiet and relaxing. It could not have been better for what we were looking for.

Awesome experience at Escape to Birchwood Suite

Tim and Stacie were exceptional hosts. From the great accommodations to the coffee, homemade bread and raspberry jam the stay was awesome. They even saved us a trip to town with some super glue when my wife's glasses broke and when we had to have a package delivered. Loved the heated floors in the bedroom and bathroom. Spent 9 days with them during our Fairbanks Aurora vacation. Had great viewing on our tours and even great Aurora viewing from their driveway on the two nights we didn't go out on tours. Could not have been more pleased with the experience.

Great space, fantastic hosts

We felt we were at home away from home with friends! When we checked in, the place was warm and inviting. While there, Fairbanks experienced "warm-ageddon", temperatures approaching 40 when they're usually -20, which turned the roads into sheets of ice rink. Tim and Stacie were EXCELLENT in communicating during this time, keeping their driveway clear and safe, and offering to help if we felt the roads were too treacherous for us to drive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again!

Great Stay

This place was amazing & well stocked. Tim & Stacie were great people to work with and the pictures are exactly what the 1 bedroom Apt. looked like. Its a bit of a drive in winter but we were ok with that (being from MN) as we were there to relax, aurora chase, and revisit areas of Fairbanks we have been to and not been too. :) Watched the Aurora's right outside the Apt. Will likely be back again in the fall. Thanks for the goodies and the raspberry jam. Hubby said the coffee pot (and coffee) was amazing. All was good :)

Northern Lights

We enjoyed Stacie and Tim’s hospitality. Treats were left upon arrival making the first morning enjoyable without needing to have ran to the store before checking in. The apartment is so homey and clean that my autistic daughter walked around barefoot which she rarely does even at lifetime friends homes.

Peaceful Place in the Woods near Murphy Dome

We loved staying here. You can tell the host cares about being a good host and not just trying to monetize space, unlike some other places we've stayed. The towels and sheets were good quality and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with basics like spices, cooking oil, tea, coffee, hot cocoa plus the spatulas and anything you'd need to make a meal. There was a wonderful welcome basket with local treats. We stayed in September and the view across the valley was spectacular with all of the trees turning yellow. You could occasionally hear footsteps from the hosts family upstairs, but they were quieter than most places.

We had a great time at Birchwood Suite! It was perfect for my wife and I. The location and landscaping and tiered gardens were very scenic. And, as an added bonus, the fruits and vegetables were available to us for picking. Tim and Stacie were excellent hosts!

My husband and I stayed here a year ago on our honeymoon and again for our one year anniversary. We absolutely loved it! The property is beautiful and about a 15 minute drive from town, which we liked. It’s good to get away from the noise and bustle of the city. The apartment was clean, well maintained, and had everything we needed and more! Tim and Stacie were awesome to work with and they are lovely people. We would absolutely stay again.
