In front of the church is a beautiful plaza lined with restaurants and cafe/bars. This is an ideal location for walkers, cyclists and sports enthusiasts. Behind the apartment sits the Sierra Bernia mountain chain which offers beautiful hiking paths and old remains of the Moorish times. The back-country of Altea offers bikers and hikers endless options. There are 2 water sports centers serving Altea. Both offer diving, windsurfing, fishing, boat cruises and sailing. The large market that takes place on the seafront promenade of Altea each Tuesday is one of the biggest of its kind on the Costa Blanca.
The views were to die for!
An amazing apartment in the hills with views of the sea.
Excellent communication with Roy regarding keys collection and check out.
Will definitely be back!
Peaceful location but lacking basic necessities in the apartment
The location of the apartment was high in the hills surrounded by a pine forest so it had a wonderful smell and was very peaceful at all times. However, with a little more effort on the owner's behalf, this could have been an absolutely beautiful apartment. First impressions weren't brilliant: we didn't see the agent at all so communicated with him by email as, upon arrival, we had numerous queries: couldn't locate folder with essential instructions as it was hidden away under tourist leaflets at bottom of a drawer - it should have been placed in a more obvious location; several light bulbs weren't working. Also, we were extremely disappointed with the mattress in the master bedroom as we could feel the metal springs through it so didn't sleep at all well during our 2 week stay. Although the description of the apartment included "an oven", they omitted to say, no racks would be included! All it contained was the grill pan, minus the grill rack. Usually, when renting a self-catering apartment, you do expect to be able to cook! There weren't any baking tins either which would have been helpful. There were 2 of us staying but only 4 mugs, bowls, side plates & dinner plates. Some of these were damaged and it wasn't really enough for 2, another 2 sets would have been useful. Other ways it could be improved: change the cheap leather sofas which were all cracked and very slippery to sit on, clean/replace the sun loungers, fix the towel rail in the master bathroom, provide a laundry basket for taking out wet washing & a vacuum cleaner. I suspect there haven't been any good reviews for a long time because people can't find too many good things to say, so they just don't bother submitting a review at all. If I'm paying for a "luxury" apartment, I do expect the basics to be there!
On a positive note, the showers were lovely and powerful!
