The Space:
We invite you to stay in this beautiful, pleasant one bedroom cottage in Arcata. Elegant hardwood floors, expansive views of the redwoods and a convenient, fully equipped kitchen, perfect for preparing delicious spreads, provide a relaxing environment for family vacations, or romantic getaways.

This attractive cottage is in the heart of Arcata, only 3 blocks from Wildberries Marketplace, for all your grocery shopping desires, and 7 blocks from the Arcata Plaza. It’s a short walk over to Humboldt State University, where you can catch the latest shows at the Van Duzer Theatre, everything from Merle Haggard and Joan Baez to Steel Pulse.

There are numerous delectable restaurants within easy walking distance, and a coffee shop and several cafes around the corner. Every Saturday during the season there is a large Farmer’s Market on the Plaza featuring live music and fresh local food.

After a long day of exploring beautiful Humboldt County, come home to a comfortable queen size bed or relax and enjoy the view from the cozy furniture in the living room.

Arcata Cottage

This was our second stay in just over a year. It was as excellent as the first time in June of last year. Location was perfect. Neighborhood was quiet, warm, and friendly. Perfect for walking downtown to the square and shops. As last year the purpose was to visit our Granddaughter who attends Cal Poly Humboldt.

Spot On

The property is exactly as described. The photos are accurate, as is the description. The cottage is cozy and is centrally located. It has all the basic amenities (including salt, pepper and cooking oil!). The bath towels are fluffy as was the Duvet. Coffee shop is a block away. Gyro and Pizza is within 2 blocks. Walking to Cal Poly is super convenient and takes less than 5 min walk. The downtown Plaza, with its shops is about 10 min walk. Freeway access is within 5 min drive. I would, without hesitation, recommend the cottage to any parents visiting their child at Cal Poly. Mary, the host, is very responsive and flexible.Poverty is evident in Arcata, however, spots of sunshine and happiness can be found scattered throughout. Some of the homes fronts are well cared for and some are rundown. Potential to become a vibrant small town with an influx from the Bay Area, are evident to me. It could become a wonderful retirement community. Currently, homelessness is easily seen. There are significantly number of Canabis dispensaries.

Bed was hideously uncomfortable. A yard sale mattress would have been better. Picture of the yard gave you the impression it was fenced and safe for you dogs. It was not and on a very busy street. We have always had wonderful vacation rental experiences. This place maybe great for partying young people who aren't bringing dogs and have good backs...

Lovely and convenient

We had a weekend planned that involved busy days and relaxed evenings. With Wildberries Grocery Store being so close, we could grab a premade meal, zap it in the microwave and settle in for a relaxing evening with our dog by ourside. Lovely.

Lovely place to relax

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is very comfortable, clean, and quiet. The big windows and sky lights let in lots of natural light. The deck is a great place for morning coffee and a book. Excellent location for walking to restaurants and shops, and easy drive to the many wonderful beaches in the area. Thanks so much, we hope to be back before too long!

Easy place to enjoy Arcata

This cozy and very tidy home allowed my husband and me to spend two days in the area. We particularly enjoy the Saturday farmer’s market where families and people of all ages come to spend an hour or more not only buying local produce, but by spreading their blankets or bringing a folding chair while listening to live music chatting with each other, and even dancing. Children play with hula hoops. It’s festive and fun. There are also some good restaurants. We plan to rent this home again next year.

Very comfortable and immaculately clean (including the cubbards!). Well-equipped kitchen and bath (washcloths! Kleenex!) Very comfortable bed and good bedside lighting (readers will understand). Great location. An easy walk to downtown Arcata or Cal Poly.
