New in August 2024 - we have constructed a new spectacular private infinity pool and wrap around deck facing the lake. Added views and enjoyment with great privacy for you and your family.

New in 2023 - Portable AC Unit, Higher-speed and reliable internet, all new bedding, (pillows, sheets, towels). New screens and new cleaning service with eco-friendly pest control.

Looking for the perfect Costa Rican escape? Come be our guest in this beautiful and tranquil home on 1 acre with breathtaking views of the famous Lake Arenal. The home is built with natural hard woods and stone from Costa Rica and was completed in October 2016. You will not see a more stunning sunset in the world than that offered from our patio. Wildlife abounds with regular visits from toucans, parrots, hummingbirds, hawks, and many other bird species. The home is a bird watching paradise. We also get visits from sloths and monkeys - incredible wildlife.

The home boasts incredible views with a modern kitchen, two bedrooms, one bath, and two amazing outdoor living spaces overlooking the lake with a relaxing hammock. A pull out couch provides a 3rd queen size bed. A wall of windows and double sliding glass door allow for complete panoramic views inside and out. Equipped free wifi, washer and dryer and the most amazing shower.

Within the small community of La Union and less than 100 meters are 3 wonderful restaurants (One Belgian, One Canadian and one Local Cuisine). Just tell the owners Peggy (La Mansion Inn Arenal) and Joanne (Toucan Lane) that you are staying at our house and receive access to each pool and hotub for a small daily fee.

The house is 20 km from the spectacular Arenal Volcano and 10 more km to La Fortuna, the center for Costa Rica mountain adventures including zip lining, white water rafting, fishing and boating, horse back riding, ATV tours, and the best hot springs in the world. The acclaimed Tabbacon hot springs resort is 15 km from the house and can be accessed for a daily fee. All of these adventures can be booked through our friends at La Mansion Inn or in La Fortuna. While staying at the house, reserve a night for dinner at the Ginger Bread House, the best restaurant in all of Costa Rica a mere 6 km from the house. Tell Eyal we sent you.

The house is a 1.5 hour drive on all paved roads from the Liberia Airport, and 1.5 hours to the nearest Pacific beach town of Play del Coco. Transportation is available from either local tourism centers, or we can arrange for our caretaker to pick you up for a fee. The primary tourism bus runs from Liberia to La Fortuna and makes twice daily stops at La Union, 100 meters from the house.

Everything you need is here for an amazing adventure in the Costa Rica jungle, including bird watching, jungle living, and the occasional monkey, sloth and toucans hanging out in the trees above and below the property. This house is the true meaning of Pura Vida!

Il n.y a pas de climatisation : seulement 1 ventilateur. Il n'y a pas de table à manger. Le propriétaire nous a demandé d'en acheter une... La piscine est payante et pas sur la propriété. Superbe vue , region luxuriante. Beaucoup de perroquets verts.

Very nice view

Nice view for morning cofe. There is a very nice hotel / restaurant at 2 minutes walk with a nice pool and a bar to play pool to finish the evening. The A/C was not working as well as mentionned. We used the fan to sleep. There was only 3 stool for the 4 of us to have our meals. We also saw a bit of insects in the house

We had a WONDERFUL stay and would absolutely come again if the opportunity presented itself. The view is stunning, hanging out in the pool was super fun, and the place has a nice vibe.With that said, a few things to note:- the owner was extraordinarily responsive - If you are going to stay at this property you should check with the owner if/when work is taking place at the property next door. This was an annoyance while were staying here- Absolutely check with the owner on how to heat the pool. We did that way too late in our stay. - Note that the place has two bedrooms - youll want to really think about how many of you are traveling and see if it fits your needs- The furniture could use an upgrade - but was perfectly comfortable. - if you are into birds, I cant imagine a better place - the Toucans literally flew back and forth below and above us.

Wonderful location. It was tricky, and expensive to get around without a car - would definitely recommend having a car in this location. Pool was beautiful. Deck was beautiful. Only criticism was that there was building work going on which started very early on the Monday morning, which we did not know about before the booking had been confirmed - and we might have chosen a different property if we had known. The building manager kindly sorted out a pause to the work on the second day. Hopefully the work will be over shortly and you can enjoy this lovely house in peace!

Our family of four stayed for 2 nights and it was amazing. We loved the pool, the beds, and the view. In the mornings, we would wake up to birds singing and watch them in the trees. It was a highlight. The sunsets were beautiful, and the location was perfect. This beautiful house by the lake was a short 40ish minutes from the hustle and crowds of La Fortuna, in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Although it wasn't cheap, this property was a great stay and I highly recommend it.

We absolutely loved the time we spent at this VRBO. The views off the deck were Stunning. The lake sunrise/sunsets, the morning birds, squirrels, deer and wildlife. It was an easy walk down to the lake as well as to restaurants and coffee shop. The house was super clean, the pool was wonderful and the beds were comfy. If you enjoy bird watching then this is the place for you!!! The hosts were excellent, we would stay here again for sure.Thank you for opening your home for us to enjoy!

Still love this place!

This is our second time staying here and we won’t hesitate to come back again. I LOVE the addition of the infinity pool and updated deck. The view from the porch is like nothing I’ve experienced anywhere else. There were some negatives during this visit however. -The combo lock that held the key would not open for us. We had the right code, but the lock box would not open. We had to get a pen out of the car and pry it open
didn’t help that it was pouring rain and we had been traveling all day and fighting the box in the dark. -The addition of the “dishwasher” and “AC unit” is kinda pointless. The dishwasher is a counter top one that hardly fits any dishes, plus we couldn’t get it to work the entire time we were there. The AC unit is just a fan and there is only one of them in the house. The fan has a compartment that you add water too in order to help cool the air that comes through it, but it doesn’t work well.The bathroom was missing lights and it was so dark in there once the sun went down. We tried to find extra light bulbs to replace the missing ones, but the wiring for the lights were questionable..like hanging down from the ceiling. All that being said, we still enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back. It’s a beautiful home and perfect location wise and I love that it’s a little secluded and away from the super touristy areas.

This property was a dream and we loved everything about it! The view was spectacular and the pool was perfect for unwinding after a busy day. We saw toucans and many other birds right from the deck. We used their inflatable kayak and stand-up paddle board on the lake. The drive down to the lakeshore beyond the property was a little rough, but doable. Wish we could have spent more time here! The owners were very quickly responsive to questions.

No downsides

This house is great, is quiet and tucked away. We saw toucans every day from the pool. The view is incredible. The host always answered our questions very quickly and everything was smooth. It's in between a town that has everything you need and the national park Arenal. Great experience!

Lovely view pool and comfortable living area furniture with views.

We stayed several days and as other reviews stated bugs were an issue due to ripped and holes in screens. Cookware needs replacement and the rubber like plastic plates ,which were only option should definitely be replaced. These few easy fix minor cost upgrades would make a huge difference in my opinion. With that constructive criticism being said we enjoyed our stay there and would potentially visit again in the future.

Very special property - spectacular view

Staying at this property made our first trip to CR very special. If you want to immerse yourself and disconnect in the heart of Arenal region, you will love it here. The property is very well maintained, the pool adds a luxury to the view and surrounding and the birds wake you up and put you to sleep. We loved the variety of birds, having coffee every morning on the deck with our kids swimming and listening to the jungle around us. the friendly owners of the soda and restaurants a block away and felt very safe here. We were a short drive to all our activities except Monteverde. But that’s an another story! William was quick to respond to our inquires and graciously provided us with early check in coming off a long overnight flight. The property is so unique with the private pool, lush jungle, lake view and lots of privacy. I hope I get to visit this property again!!

Private, Peaceful and Beautiful!

This was our first visit to Costa Rica, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The home offered a peaceful and private backyard that made us feel like we were the only ones in the world—overlooking a lush ravine, beautiful lake views, and unforgettable sunsets.We loved how everything was within walking distance—great local restaurants, sodas, and a little convenient store. The infinity pool was the perfect spot to unwind while listening to the soothing sounds of nature and birds chirping. We were lucky enough to see different species of birds and several toucans right from the backyard!It is truly a slice of paradise. We’re already looking forward to coming back and would absolutely stay in this exact home again. It was perfect!

Bird watching heaven

We had a quick two night stay with my elderly parents to enjoy the views & wildlife. This house situated above the trees with a view of Arenal lake was perfect as the birds flew by at eye level constantly. We never even turned on the TV, house was cool enough without AC due to breeze. Water pressure in the shower could be better but other than that, we had everything we needed.

Perfect getaway

This place was an amazing stop on our trip to Costa Rica! Beautiful and peaceful, clean and comfortable beds. Owners provided quick communication with any questions. Enough restaurants within walking distance. We drove to La Fortuna area every day for activities (rafting, zipline, and canyoning) which was about 45 min, but manageable.Would highly recommend!

Paradise for birdwatchers

Very nice home with outstanding balcony and view. Very private. Good WiFi. Afternoon sun gets the living area very hot. Did not use portable ac but would have if cold packs had been provided. Maybe consider a shade for that large window. Pillows smelled musty. Small ants in the kitchen were a problem. Overall great stay and I would recommend to friends

A good spot to call home for an extended stay. Very comfortable. Good internet. Enjoyed the pool on sunny afternoons. Places to eat nearby. A bit far into La Fortuna on a very curved road but not horrible. I'd stay again.

Unresponsive Host and Poor Handling of Emergency Situation

On the evening of our check-in, heavy rain caused mudslides that completely cut off the property, making it inaccessible. The below review is based on the aftermath and communication with the host:-Poor Communication: Host failed to provide timely updates about road conditions or the property's accessibility, despite having our contact information.-Caretaker's Warning Ignored: The host’s caretaker explicitly advised us not to come due to unsafe conditions, but the host refused a full refund, which falls under the extenuating circumstance policy. -No Assistance Provided: The host made no effort to help us access the property or offer alternatives during the emergency.-Minimal Compensation: Only refunded 50% of the booking "out of pity," even though the property was inaccessible for our entire booked duration and lacked power.-Deflection of Responsibility: Host blamed us for not arriving earlier, disregarding the dangerous conditions and lack of communication on his part.

Million Dollar View with Privacy!

This house and this place is nothing short of magic! The view was stunning and it felt like we had the whole area to ourselves. The pool was perfect and we loved being able to wash and dry clothes while we were there. The hosts were very communicative and understanding, even though we forgot a crucial part of check out. I would stay here 100 times over, perfection!

Disappointing Stay

We booked for 2 nights but left after the first night. This house is in need of serious maintenance and care. The view was nice but that’s the only positive thing I can say. The rest of our stay was disappointing for several reasons;1. The house is simply not well-kept. It smells musty and moldy as soon as you walk in. We found mold on the sheets and IN the mattress cover.2. The tall glass windows/doors had no curtains, so there was no privacy or way to block out the light in the morning. 3. The shower had missing tiles on the wall, which didn’t give us much confidence in the cleanliness of the bathroom overall. 4. The pull-out couch was a joke. It’s old and stiff making it nearly impossible to open. When we finally got it open, the mattress was thin, short and uncomfortable. It really only felt suitable for young children. Definitely not a place for adults to sleep.5. The window screen on the bathroom window was destroyed so there was no way to ventilate the bathroom after a shower without letting bugs in.6. As soon as we opened coffee in the morning ants started crawling out of every crevice. We expect a few bugs given the location but based on prior reviews it seems as if this is a consistent issue.The host was responsive when we notified him of these issues however, they were not things that could be quickly resolved. Overall, the house has potential, but it needs a lot of TLC to make it livable and comfortable for guests. I can’t recommend.

Rainy but Relaxing!

Absolutlely Beautful view and very relaxing. The little tiny ants were a big nuisance though as they bite and itch, swe hope that gets resolved as we'd like to revisit.

The view from the front porch with the infinity pool is perfection! It has several eating spots within walking distance and is close to adventures in La Fortuna.
