The Space:
Set just across from Blackpool Bay, Alhambra is a welcoming home that makes island life feel easy. The open-plan living and dining area looks out through floor-to-ceiling glass to the water, filling the home with light and sea views. It’s the kind of space made for sharing meals, catching up over a glass of wine, or simply watching the day drift by.

The home features three comfortable double bedrooms and a second private lounge with a double sofa bed, offering plenty of room for families or a small group of friends. With two full bathrooms and a well-equipped kitchen, everything you need for a relaxed stay is here.

Outside, the deck and garden create a calm spot to unwind, the perfect place for breakfast in the sun or an easy evening together after a day exploring the island. With the beach just steps away and Oneroa Village within walking distance, Alhambra brings together comfort, connection, and that effortless Waiheke rhythm.

Please note: Access to the two upstairs bedrooms is via a narrow, fairly steep stairway, typical of classic Waiheke homes

Guest Access:
You’ll have full access to the property during your stay, a place to settle in, kick off your shoes, and make it your own.
Check-in is from 2:00pm, and check-out is by 10:30am.

If you’d like a slower start or an earlier arrival, we do offer early check-ins and late check-outs for an additional fee. Availability depends on whether the property has a back-to-back booking, but we’ll let you know closer to your stay if this can be arranged.

The Neighborhood:
Set along The Esplanade in Blackpool, Alhambra by Stay Waiheke sits just across the road from the quiet curve of the bay, a peaceful stretch where locals wander barefoot at low tide and paddleboards glide through the morning light. From here, it’s an easy stroll to Oneroa Village, home to boutique shops, galleries, and some of Waiheke’s best places to eat and linger.

Start your morning at Fenice, a relaxed island favourite open from breakfast through dinner, or wander down to Wai Kitchen, the coffee’s excellent, the barista’s a magician with froth art, and the view across the water is unbeatable. At lunchtime, their poke bowls are the perfect match for a sunny afternoon.

Just an ten-minute walk from your door, Oneroa Beach is one of the island’s best-loved swimming spots, golden sand, calm water, and that easy Waiheke rhythm that slows everything down. The Matiatia passenger ferry is also only minutes away, keeping travel simple while you still feel a world away from the city.

For long, indulgent lunches, Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards sit just over the hill, their terraces offering sea views and local wines, and, if you’re lucky, a few of Mudbrick’s friendly ducks wandering by.

This pocket of Blackpool feels peaceful yet connected, close enough to the ferry and village to feel the hum of the island, yet calm enough that you’ll fall asleep to the sound of the tide.

Getting Around:
Getting around from Alhambra couldn’t be easier. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is just a few minutes away, making arrivals simple and day trips back to the city effortless. Oneroa Village is within easy walking distance for shopping, dining, or a morning swim at the beach.

If you’d like to explore more of the island, the bus stop is just around the corner, with regular routes running to beaches, vineyards, and markets across Waiheke. Taxis and e-bikes are also available, and there’s off-street parking at the house if you’ve brought a car.

Every route on Waiheke comes with a view, winding roads, glimpses of sea and bush, and the relaxed pace that makes getting there part of the experience.

Please note: Access to the two upstairs bedrooms is via a narrow, fairly steep stairway, typical of classic Waiheke homes. The property is connected to rainwater tanks, as are most island homes, so we ask guests to use water thoughtfully.

Alhambra by Stay Waiheke can accommodate up to eight guests in total, with a maximum of six adults. The layout makes it ideal for families or friends who love to gather, just a few steps from the beach but close enough to the village to grab morning coffee or dinner without the drive.
