The room was okay. The bed was really comfortable. I did notice that after my room was cleaned it wasn't put back in the same pristine condition it was when I initially checked in. The pillows weren't staged, the towels in the bathroom were not neatly placed, and the desk wasn't wiped down. Also, the per day parking was expensive and the hotel wasn't clear about the parking rate/ policy when I called in advance. I had a rental car and I was charged $17 dollars USD each time I took the car out of the parking structure. It costs $60 per day for the valet with unlimited entry/exits, and $17 even if you park the car for the day. Ridiculous. I would think that with a casino attached and paying the regular room rate, the hotel could eat the cost of parking for guests. I had a sleep in day due to jet lag and was really disappointed in the dine in menu and walked to the supermarket down the street for food instead. With that said, the staff was cordial and the hotel itself, although a bit gimmicky, was spotless. They were able to provide me with early check in, thus the 3 stars. If not for that it would've been 2.5 stars. However, once was enough, I wouldn't stay at SkyCity again. I'll look for more welcoming options when I return to Auckland.
