Located above our detached garage, the apartment is 500 square feet and is accessed via an exterior staircase. It features a queen size Murphy bed that can be lifted up and stored within the cabinet to create more floor space. The kitchen has refrigerator with freezer, gas range, oven and microwave. Samsung washing machine and dryer are found in a hall closet. The bathroom has a stand up shower.
We loved our stay in Tarrytown. It is a beautiful neighborhood, and a quiet area. The apartment was the comfortable and restful oasis we needed during a busy weekend in Austin.
Dane's space was everything we were looking for in our stay in Austin. It's located in one of the best residential neighborhoods in Austin, 5 minutes from downtown, and the most beautiful, walkable neighborhood. We woke up each day to walk to Mozarts to get coffee, enjoyed the views of Scenic Avenue and had an HEB down the street to grab any basic necessities. Dane was a phenomenal and gracious host. We will definitely be staying again in the future.
This was the perfect space and location for my month stay. Dane was very responsive and helpful throughout. The garage apartment has everything you need for a long term stay!
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Daneâs place. Dane and Joe were very welcoming and great about communicating when we had questions. We both worked remotely while we were staying there, which was a little challenging because itâs a studio apartment, but we knew that going in and found some workarounds (Zoom meetings in the bathroom!). We also had our infant with us, so the blackout curtains were super-appreciated. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and so is the couch. Itâs very clean, the washer and dryer are amazing, and there is tons of storage for clothing, pantry items, etc.
A few quirks, which should in no way be deal-breakers (seriously, rent this place):
1. The water is soft, so go easy on the soap. Once you get the hang of it, youâll be really glad it is how it is.
2. Cooking - youâll probably need to bring a few things with you. There are wine glasses, coffee mugs, pots, pans, and utensils. But youâll need plates, bowls, cups or glasses, a sharp cooking knife, a cutting board, and maybe a few other specialty items. We cooked almost every day for a month, and we got everything we needed on day 2 for under $30 total.
3. There arenât any hangers, but thatâs another extremely affordable problem to solve (or just bring a few with you).
4. I think this is common, but make sure you bring your own toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags.
Thatâs really it. The neighborhood is great. Be prepared to be jealous of the fact that youâll see a different swimming pool out of each and every window in the apartment. Have fun and enjoy it!
I needed a place for a 10 week internship in Austin and got really lucky to stumble across Daneâs place. Itâs 10 min to downtown where I was working at anytime of day. Super conveniently located and easy to get to any part of Austin with its location near Mopac. The neighborhood is really safe and very pretty. Dane is so friendly and welcoming. I would 100% stay here again.
