This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
The staff were very rude.
The shower water was warm for a few moments and then turned cold.
You have to wait a long time to use the elevator.
There was a terrible sewage smell coming from the rooms.
I absolutely do not recommend this hotel
I had a mixed stay at my time at STEPS Batumi. I'll start with the positive. The property was overall clean and comfortable with decently sized and outfitted rooms in the two-room suite. A big perk was an in-unit washing machine that I made use of. The pool and spa were both well-maintained, staffed, and enjoyable.
The negatives include the following. First, the hotel only has one accessible elevator per side of the building, and there are over 30 floors in the building between hotel guests and apartment residents. This leads to long waits and very crowded rides. The high residency of the hotel also means that staff are overworked and take a long time to answer desk calls.
Likely for similar reasons, housekeeping has a massive window to fix up rooms--anywhere from 10 in the morning to 9 in the evening (21h!) Another major downside was unreliable wifi, which worked fine in the entryway of the apartment, but not in the bedrooms.
Another important note that is not entirely the hotel's fault but is worth considering, is that Batumi is rapidly expanding and at a rate that outpaces the capacity of infrastructure to meet the needs of newly constructed areas. One evening while I was staying the city cut off the water overnight, leaving me literally high and dry. Asking around with locals, they confirmed this happens on occasion in Batumi. Again, this was not the hotel's fault, but it would have been nice for the hotel to offer a nice gesture to compensate, but this did not happen.
I was supposed to stay at STEPS BATUMI from Oct 1st Oct 15th 2024. I got to the hotel and it seemed nice. But then the trouble started.
The first few days I was given water and the they cleaned the room. Then they stopped giving water, and I asked them to clean the room and change the sheets, they said okay but never came to clean. I called front desk they said they can come tomorrow. My sheets were on the floor so I went downstairs and they found me a sheet and 2 pillow cases. Next day I got a knock and I said I am getting ready can you come in an hour. I left the room saw a cleaning lady and asked her to clean, she said tell front desk, I told them and no one came. I called in the PM when I came back and front desk told me that cleaning staff marked the room clean. I got upset and the next morning I called and said is there a reason I am getting treated this way? So they sent the cleaning manager and I explained to her and she called the cleaning lady. She knocked on the door and asked if I want cleaning I said yes and she gave me the biggest attitude like I donât know what I want.
Even after the cleaning the room is still dirty, one day she washed a few dishes and left the whole table by the sink soaked with water, they barely wash the floors, I got there and noticed a blood looking spot by the bed, which wasnât cleaned until that day the manager came which was like 8 days into my stay.
The shower drain doesnât drain. Terrible experience, I can say more but Iâm done.
