Hôtel typique anglais

Le plus : parking, bonne restauration, l'accueil Le moins : Petit-déjeuner essentiellement anglais, pas de continental. Prix exhorbitant pour le petit chien non mentionné sur le site (nous n'aurions pas pris cet hôtel si nous l'avions su). Un doute sur le change des draps

Monsieur, Nous offrons seulement le petit déjeuner continental si il a été réservé d'avance. Quant au petit chien, ce n'est pas la taille qui compte, nous devons nettoyer la moquette avec un produit spécial aprês la visite d'un chien et le temps que cela prend . Ce n'est pas un prix exhorbitant , et peu d'hotels acceptent nos amis les animaux dans les chambres. Les draps et housses de couette sont changés après le passage de chaque invité, ou sur demande. Le linge de lit et les serviettes de toilette sont lavés et séchés à l'hotel. Merci de nous avoir attribué 4 étoiles

Lovely clean hotel. Good service. Bit limited on drinks in the bar, but ok. Good breakfast. Would stay again.

Thank you for your great review. We don't understand the limited drinks comment? We have 7 ciders, 5 lagers, 3 bitters, a huge wine list, walls of spirit and a vast amount of soft drinks. We hope to welcome you again soon.

A friendly welcome

The team was incredibly welcoming, and looked after me well. I had a lovely evening meal, and they were kind enough to do an early breakfast for me, as I was doing a long-distance walk and needed to make the most of daylight hours. The room was quite compact, and it is clearly an older building, but was comfy enough for me. The bathroom was compact, but certainly not cramped.

The most unhygienic hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Arrived around lunchtime and ordered some food in the pub. Upon sitting down we noticed food scraps all over the floor, the table was filthy and the wall behind the booth was covered in mould. We couldn’t lean back as we would have got mould in our hair/on our clothes. The staff were friendly and were able to get us into our room well ahead of check-in time but unfortunately the cleanliness of the hotel completely overshadowed the whole experience. The rooms were a decent size but everything was so old - the sheets, towels and pillows looked about 10 years old. I actually couldn’t bring myself to sleep under the sheets and slept with my coat over me. There was mould in the shower and spiders. The room got quite cold at night so I left the plug-in heater running for an hour or so before falling asleep. I woke up to a spark from the heater and realised it had died. It was a great location for what we were doing in Devon but would never stay there again. I heard of friends of friends who actually couldn’t do another night at the hotel and went back to London early.

Dear Hannah,We are sorry you found your experience below par. There is no mould on the wall. This is a 400 year old original Inn, not a prefab. The towels are exactly 1 year old, the pillows just a month old with protectors and we have brand new bedding. There are always spiders in old buildings and webs do appear overnight. As fastidious as the cleaners are, they do not maintain a night watch vigil, it is part and parcel of being nestled in the countryside. We apologise if your table was not clean prior to sitting down.I think you really need to report any problems to management so that something can be done to rectify any issues you may have. Slamming a business unnecessarily does no justice to you or anyone else. The friend of a friend story, is just that, a story. Unfortunately they left a day early as they had to attend to a sick relative. Please do not spread untruths. Best wishes, West Country Inn

Lovely, Odd Inn

Had a lovely short stay, food was delicious and the hostess was fantastic. Will be returning next time we travel that way.

Dear Phillip. We would be very interested to know why you found us "terrible?" You and your colleague arrived to pre warmed rooms, enjoyed a meal of BBQ ribs with a large salad, corn on the cob, premium fries, cob corn with butter and a dish of coleslaw each. Your food was made fresh to order and not pre-packaged. You never gave us even a hint of criticism or voiced any concern. Reviews like these are upsetting to our staff when they are doing everything in their power to provide and enjoyable and comfortable stay. For whatever possible reason, we are sorry you found us to be "terrible".

Hotel staff very friendly and would help you with anything. Rooms very comfort and you have everything you need. Food excellent and good portions. Did not have to wait long for food
