The hotel is a classic looking building but it needs updating in terms of replacing or improving the furniture. Window ledges missing paint. They promote the palm court for the nice dining experience but it lacks items such as tablecloths. The service was ok but they need to look at where they place the staff who have been recruited as part of the diversity of peoples skills which they have been awarded. Iâm all for this but some staff clearly are stressed at the breakfast serving time frame. We asked one gentleman for a pot of hot water five times politely, he went into a panic. We also asked for extra pillows when we arrived, 9 hours later and five attempts from which we eventually had them. I believe itâs under new owners do I can clearly see the difference after 5 years when we last came. I think they are trying to cut corners and it doesnât befit a classic hotel like this one. I would go back but they need to sort the place out, missing lights, carpets covered in black tape, Iâm sure all this can be done for a listed building.
