The Potting Shed at Bunya House is a newly built guest accommodation perfect for a weekend escape to Bowral and the Southern Highlands of NSW. It sits overlooking a beautiful vegetable garden designed by the renowned Australian garden designer Paul Bangay. Every amenity is covered to make your stay relaxing and peaceful. The king bed divides into two king singles perfect for those travelling with a friend, mother/daughter, father/son. The bathroom includes a free standing bath and shower. The kitchenette has everything for light meals.

Disappointing stay

Unfortunately Bunya House wasn’t what we were anticipating for our Mother/Daughter weekend away in Bowral. We had booked The Potting Shed to stay in, which was based on reviews and how delightful it looked on the stayz website. However, the owner called to say it had been double booked and offered us Bunya House as an alternative, explaining we were getting a bargain as it was a lot more to stay in the main house than the Potting Shed. Based on this, we accepted thinking the main house would be equally as nice. Upon opening the front door we realised very quickly this wasn’t the case. You are instantly hit with an old musty smell. The house is very tired and in need of some major upgrades. The lounge room is so uninviting with old stained lounge chairs that you don’t want to sit on. The house is scattered with old family photos and furniture which just feel creepy. No soap was provided in the bathroom for washing your hands or showering. The milk that was provided for the breakfast was out of date. All of these things just contributed to an uncomfortable stay. I get that some guests may like an old guest house such as this, but when you book the Potting Shed this is a clear indicator of the type of accommodation you are looking for and Bunya House just wasn’t that. We think the owner should have explained the state of the house when she offered it to us. We felt it was dishonest as she was trying to make it sound like an upsell. On the plus side house was warm.

We had cockroaches in the bed ( we took photos ) the door could not be closed let alone locked as it was severely warped, so each time we left we had to put all valuables in the car, there was inadequate refuse facilities, crockery had to be washed prior to use and limited power points such that the coffee maker and toaster could not be used at the same time.

Beautiful place and great location

The Potting Shed was so perfect We had the most wonderful stay. So close to town, but in a very quiet location. The Potting Shed itself was picture perfect. Surrounded by the prettiest cottage gardens. Like something out of a magazine.

Pleasant stay in bowral

We had a very pleasant time staying in Bowral, one of our fav places to stay. Our host Camilla was very helpful but we were unable to communicate with her through the Stayz message system . Camilla was very apologetic re access to the property due to working on their driveway. It wasn’t a problem for us but we appreciated her concern.

Our Stay

This property is full of character and charm. It was spotless and had everything we needed. Some bread, milk and butter was dropped to the door after our arrival which was a lovely touch. My bridesmaids and I stayed at the house the evening before my wedding - it made for some beautiful photo opportunities, especially the garden area next to the house. Thank you Camilla!

Beautiful, relaxing weekend away

My husband, baby and I stayed here for a weekend while we attended a wedding. It was a beautiful property, loved the bath and bed. The gardens were also lovely to walk through. Perfect location, close to Bowral. We would love to stay again one day! Thank you

Very clean and tidy cottage

Great little cottage to stay however the beating struggled the weekend we stayed as the weather was very cold. The curtains on the main entrance door did not cover the windows for privacy, warmth or light. No coffee was provided

Absolutely gorgeous property, well located and lovely responsive host. Our friends booked the main house for the weekend and my husband and I stayed in the potting shed as I’m pregnant and wanted some separate space. Absolutely wonderful

Camillas place is stunning. Just as advertised in the photos. The cottage is small, but has everything you need for a short stay. The cottage was exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches throughout. We would definitely book again. Thank you Camilla!
