Working with the host was great. He worked with us prior to arriving and always responded very quickly. The property was absolutely beautiful and the pictures did not do it justice. The only disappointing aspects was the pool was broken upon arrival and there was no bedding/blankets for the pull out couches available.

To Celebrate My Retirement

Everything was perfect. We worked with the owner of the property through VRBO and it was very easy to communicate, ask questions and get answers. We visited twice prior to our reservation date to get a feel for who would sleep where of the 40 folks on our list of invitees. The owner was always very accommodating. The entire experience was so relaxed and stress-free. The pool, the hot tub, the lake. So amazing. Thank you so much Tony and VRBO!

Great weekend away with Family and Friends

The property was great for 3 families together and the convenience to RDU is unmatched. We rented a boat and added in the Chef experience which made this place a great getaway! I do recommend the owners put a good cleaning inside and out on the house shortly. Nothing terrible, but it would be a huge benefit.

We loved this house - our entire group had so much space with 3 kitchens, the double decker dock and the 10 bedrooms. The pictures do not do the house justice - much more spacious than shown. Irvin was very helpful throughout our stay - we even extended a night because we didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to return!!

Lovely home with tons of space and everything we needed

The home and view are absolutely lovely!! The house had everything we needed (and more) to keep our group of 18 entertained all day long. Our goal was to spend time together and the large open spaces made that easy to do on the dock, at the pool, and at the extra large kitchen table. All of our concerns were immediately taken care of by the maintenance crew. Would love to go back!!!

Loved it. Minor inconvienve with fire alarms all going off for no reason but mantinence and communication was timely. Master bath had a leak that was prexisting but also addressed buy maintenance. We all still had a great time on the lake and in the home. Plenty of meals cooked and tons of space for everyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! House is huge ! We only had a group of 7 so it was more than roomy enough. The view is spectacular!! Everything in the home was very convenient. Great outdoor setting for large group to dine with the grill right there. Everyone enjoyed the pool and slide. The game areas were also a lot of fun. Kitchen was a great size also. We would definitely go back. We had a few glitches which were quickly handled by Tony.

Phenomenal house! Perfect for our Women's Retreat!

Over 40 women from our church spent the weekend at Portside. There was plenty of room for everyone! We spent most of our time in the main living area, and had two long tables set up for eating and meeting space. Everyone raved about the kitchen and there was more than enough room to have several helping with meals at the same time. The extra oven up in the fourth floor was so helpful for the times we needed it, as well as the extra refrigerators. There wasn't one thing amiss and we had everything we needed for a wonderful Retreat weekend. The weather was perfect, and the lake views and early signs of Spring were beautiful. We will be back! Many thanks to Tony for his kindness in answering all our questions beforehand! We were so blessed to be able to stay at Portside!

Excellent Property!! Just know the heated pool isnt free:)

We had a fabulous time. The accommodations were phenomenal. I would definitely recommend and stay again!! BUT.....I recieved a text from the property manager saying I would be charged $600 for turning the heater on on the pool. Thankfully, the pool heater had a lock on it so I wouldn't have been able to turn it on. They sent a pool guy out to confirm and discovered the sensor sent a false alarm. My concern was, it advertised heated pool as a selling point. Nothing in the description said it was $600 extra. I would suggest updating the description so that guests are aware or including it in the cost. Again, definitely 5 stars on the accommodations!

We felt very fortunate to find a home large enough to accommodate our family for an important reunion. It was perfect! The house had ample space for people to be together and to also find a quiet nook.The outside covered deck/patios on each level were wonderful. We spent a lot of time out there. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all well appointed. The bath towels were particularly nice, not cheap-feeling at all. The kitchen and pantry area were well stocked with plenty of dishes, flatware, and pots and pans. The A/C was also in good working order and cooled the house very nicely. Many bedrooms also had ceiling fans. We did pay extra to heat the pool which worked well until a pump malfunctioned, but we were still able to use the pool even though it wasn't as warm as the first day. The children really enjoyed the slide.The surrounding pool area would have benefitted from a wipe down. The weather didn't work in our favor for much of the weekend, so we scrapped the plan to rent the owner's pontoon boat. However, there was plenty to do, some folks even went fishing and caught fish! The wifi was OK, not the best, but that perhaps is understandable given the size of the house. The outside windows and window casings had many spider webs that blocked the beautiful lake view, a cleaning of those areas would be welcome. I recommend this property without reservation to anyone looking for a great place to host a large gathering. Tony was a responsive host; he even gave helpful area recs.

Disappointing

We booked this home month's in advance for our Mom's 85th Birthday long weekend, 17 guests in total. The home is well situated and very roomy but has a long list of shortcomings and is hardly an "Executive Mansion". States 11 bedrooms but only five are real bedrooms with toilets and doors, others are open or closet areas in the home that beds were put in without privacy and a walk down the hall to use the bathroom. While many of these are nuisances, added together they created for a very disappointing stay: 3 electric outlets in the kitchen didn't work, dishwasher was full of dirty dishes when we arrived and didn't clean dishes when run, dirty dishes and utensils put away in the cabinets and drawers, ants and other dead bugs in cabinets, no kitchen towels, no sponges to wash dishes, no trash bags, no laundry detergent, everyone had to make their own bed on the first night because sheets weren't put on beds, kitchen utensils, pots, pans were a huge and disorganized mess in the drawers, cable tv in first floor bedroom didn't work and light bulbs were blown out in the bathroom so unless the door was left open you couldn't use it , HOT TUB WAS BROKEN!!!, many light bulbs out throughout the house (4 of 5 out in the chandelier above the breakfast table) and the home didn't have a corkscrew to open wine to pacify our misery!!! The owner's family were at a wedding and left no alternative point of contact so NONE of these issues could be fixed until Monday when we were leaving. All issue emails were answered with a sarcastic "Hope you're enjoying your stay"! Final issue was not minor and that is that I had asked the owner for months whether we could have an early check in for 85 Yo mom who would be getting to the area early. I was told that it depended on availability and wouldn't be known until just before check in...reasonable. When I inquired again the week of our arrival, I was told yes you can check in early but we charge an extra $200 for that and NEVER mentioned prior...a truly slimy response. Many other very nice options on the lake, look elsewhere. Thanks a lot, Irwin!
