This was our first trip staying on Tortola. Found the island to be friendly, relaxing and beautiful. Smugglers cove for snorkeling. And a delicious fish sandwich at Niguelâs Beach cafe. The roads for us, where a challenge and took time to get use to the switchbacks and steep roads. When we arrived by ferry to the West End , Jerryâs car rental did help us find our Makere Cottage up on hillside. We were thankful for this guidance as the roads were a challenge at first. What a magnificent view from above Cane Garden Bay. So peaceful. Sunsets spectacular. The home was clean and very comfortable. Once we opened the shutter windows, the breeze filled the house. And with the help of fans became comfortable. Didnt have much issues with bugs. We spent the next four days exploring the island. Hiked on Sage Mt. , enjoyed Brewers Bay Beach. Ocean was a little kicked up that day so snorkeling wasnât clear. Restaurants around the island were good. Some better than others. Tina , the owner was very easy to communicate with. We spent evenings in the cottage , enjoying the view and nature sounds of the hillside. Very quiet otherwise then the bird calls, etc. We were supplied with beach chairs and towels , etc. We rented our car, a Toyota Rav which handled the steep and twisted roads well.
