The room was serviceable, but was quite shabby as was the general appearance of the hotel. The curtains didn't close the full way in my room, so some light came in. There wasn't much to dampen any sound, so any loud late comers could be heard clearly. The location is great, and the staff friendly, so a good, low-cost option, if you don't mind the decor and a bit of noise.

Very clean/ right in city/ walk every where/ close to botanical gardens/ river cat/ casino/ Southbank/ 5min walk to queen st mail/ priced right.

We attended riverstage for a festival. Staying at great southern hotel was excellent for us. The room was clean, had everything we needed including a hot shower and comfortable bed after a long day on our feet. Having shops, restaurants and other entertainment venues close by was awesome.
Will definitely use great southern hotel if we are in the area again!
