This lovely post and beam home is conveniently located on the Pemaquid Peninsula and is perfect for those who want a stress-free and quiet vacation get-away. Privacy abounds this property and is just a five minute walk to Calf Island on tranquil Boyd Pond where you can enjoy the wildlife while sitting on the dock, swimming or enjoying a kayak or canoe ride. This is a perfect place for those who love nature and wish to get away from the busyness of everyday life. We are a short drive to Bristol's wonderful saltwater beach, Pemaquid Point, Fort William Henry and the quaint and lovely downtown of Damariscotta. Bristol is centrally located in coastal Maine for day trips throughout the region. Boat trips to Mohegan Island, whale and puffin watches can be found in New Harbor which is just minutes from Bristol. We are approximately 40 minutes from Booth Bay Harbor for those who want to spend a day in this beautiful harbor town. The home has two bedrooms and a loft that can accommodate 5 people comfortably. There is a queen bed in one bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom and a full size pull-out sofa in the loft. There is a fully applianced kitchen, a full bath and a living area with a gas stove. A large deck and a private screened porch are part of this wonderful property to enjoy the peaceful Maine evenings. This home awaits your arrival.
We rented this house during the last week of August and loved it. It was spacious and clean and the host was lovely. I was able to contact her with any concerns. We loved walking to the nearby pond (not handicapped accessible in case your husband has a walker like mine) and listening to the owls hoot in the woods after dinner. The location was excellent being halfway between Damariscotta and New Harbor where we walked the Pemaquid Loop every day. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking too. One thing to know is that the TV is upstairs- which is fine for most families and the internet worked well too. Also- some sap fell on the top of our car overnight - which was easily removed using hand sanitizer- so you should park away from the trees.
Beautiful and clean home. Very comfortable stay. Thought the water access would be a bit closer but it certainly didnât ruin our stay! Great location for accessing nature trails, lighthouse, kayaking, dining, and shopping if thatâs your thing. Wish we had a few more days for sure!
The cabin is cozy and we found it comfortable.
However, I was surprised the beds were not made. The owner claims her preference was to leave folded sheets at the bottom of the bed for the client to make the bed. I find this quite unusual for a rental property; and, I believe, it sets the wrong tone for a vacation visit. In addition, the client is required to remove trash to a transfer station (a distance away) on departure (in our case, the station was closed on departure day). I also find this quite unusual. It would seem reasonable that both the above should be included and part of the departure cleaning serviceâs responsibility.
The owner stated the main area ceiling fan was only partially working (on setting â1â only, as they hadnât got around to fixing it). For a summer rental with no A/C, it would seem this should be priority issue for repair even in Maine during the summer.
We had a great stay. The house was clean and well-located for our needs. Boyd Pond offered fantastic fishing. The area is off the beaten track, but amazing and relaxing.
This is the 6th summer we have stayed in this house and we love it! The access to the pier and pond are amazing! It is also close to many attractions and towns.
Loved the cottage in the Maine woods.Beautiful setting. Very private.Charming interior with nice loft. Cozy and comfortable. Screened porch great outdoor space. Excellent in-house amenities and supplies.
We had such a great time. The property is very nice easy to walk around. The path to the dock is hard to find, the area and towns are beautiful. The house had everything in it that you needed. Awesome stay.
I arrived in the middle of a late March snow storm! After harrowing driving conditions, it was a relief to enter a very warm and cozy cottage in the woods at Boyd Pond. The gas stove was lit and made the cottage warm and inviting. The chairs around the stove were very comfortable. the kitchen was well-stocked with all you need to cook and eat a great meal. The owners were available at a moments notice, and were very helpful with answers to my questions. All in all, I look forward to my next stay at Boyd Pond. I have been coming to Lincoln County for 25 years, and this location was a great surprise.
Property was everything as advertised.Very nice. Didnât hear at all from property manager during stay. I would expect PM would call shortly after our arrival to make sure everything was OK. They didnât.
I stayed here with friends for a local wedding. The home was very cute and well-kept. It is in a great location, making it an easy drive to towns in multiple directions. Our only negative was that we had to take all trash with us and because we left on a Sunday, the local transfer station was closed, so we had to drive for a while with our trash in the car.
This is the 4th year we have stayed and loved it! The new chairs in the living room area were a great addition. The property inside and out was clean and well maintained. This is also close to my parentsâ house, and close to Damariscotta, the lighthouse, restaurants, and of course the water. We will be back again next year!
We stayed two nights here for a girls get together. Very private, clean and comfortable beds. The cottages location was perfect for us! Not far from Pemaquid beach and the town of Damariscotta. Also, a nice wooded trail to hike within walking distance. I would say that we were a little surprised to have to make our beds when we arrived. That was a first for us. Although there were written instructions on the doors, we found them very complicated to use. Other than those two issues, it was a lovely stay, and I would definitely recommend!
They need to install a culvert at the base of the driveway up to the house where itâs washed out and dangerously jagged rocks could damage a car or tires. The deck is seriously in need of power washing to remove mildew and lesson slips & falls, especially when itâs wet or after rain. The screen doors on the porch donât fit tight, so the door latches donât catch or lock, so critters could get in. Listing says there is access to a pond and island, but no information was provided regarding where it is and how to get to it.
This place is wonderful! It has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable, relaxing stay. It was nice to have a quiet place to return to after a day's activity. We had a great week!
