This experience felt deceptive and unsafe. Consumers deserve transparency.
I don’t leave bad reviews lightly, but this one is necessary. This property is misleading customers by mixing its photos with those of its sister 5-star hotel, connected only via back-of-house corridors. Nothing is what it seems, and I’m surprised Radisson allows its name to be associated with this.
My daughter and I arrived after midnight to check into a 4-star room. There was no ramp at the entrance, so luggage went up multiple steps. After check-in, we were directed through a glass lift and told to access the green building. This turned out to be a dark, unmarked back-of-house corridor with dirty laundry trolleys, red lighting, no signage, and an unsafe makeshift metal ramp leading to an old service lift.
Concerned for safety, I asked reception if there was an alternative access or if we could be moved. I was told all rooms were accessed the same way, that relocation was not possible due to booking through a third-party platform and because the sister 5-star hotel is a separate business.The night security guard was the only helpful person apologetic offering assistance with our luggage. When we reached the room, it smelled strongly of sewage. Reception again said nothing could be done, no move, no refund, not even with us paying the difference.
We left and were welcomed professionally by the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest, whose staff even collected our luggage in freezing conditions.
