This is a great place to go and really get away from everything. It was a quiet and peaceful stay. The nearest gas station or restaurants were about 30-35 minutes away because the road is so winding leading up to the resort. The staff was super nice and always helpful.
We were disappointed in was the conditions of the hiking trails. They are not kept clear and had many fallen trees on the trails we had to hike straight up mountains to get around. Also, the campus and hiking trails could both use more signs. There is no lodge sign at the lodge or any signs on the trails. This would've been appreciated as we ended up taking the wrong way on one of the trails from trying to guess which direction to go. Besides that, we very much appreciated it was pet friendly. Although charging an extra fee so you can hang out with your fur baby is just a scam in this country.
The property grounds were well taken care of and clean. Nice pool. But goodluck actually seeing the lake from your balcony, there is a line of trees by the lake that block the entire view. That was also disappointing. Overall, this was a great state park and we would return if they would take better care of the hiking trails.
Was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and cleanliness of the lodge. The room a little bit older smell to it. Room was clean and comfortable stay. I can not say enough about the restaurant on how delicious the food was. We kayak the lake and really enjoyed it. The scenery was so therapeutic. Canât wait to come visit again. Thanks to the entire staff. Treated us like family.
Stayed here while visiting family in the area. Good value / quality for money. Balcony and view of the lake are very nice. Room decor is a bit old school but certainly better than Ohio state parks or national parks rooms. Facilities are clean which I appreciate. Our only complaints: 1) There is definitely a water problem in room 311. The musty small is very strong. 2) The mattresses are super old and lumpy. My mom fought hers all night to keep from rolling off to one side. Keep in mind as well that the lodge is somewhat isolated with a limited restaurant offering. Any other food options are 20-30 mins away. Bring your own food with you or hit up the R&F Dairy Bar not too far from the park entrance. I do not mean to sound negative in this place. You just need to know what you are getting yourself into. For lake access and decent accommodation, it is quite good.
Beautiful property right on the lake. Absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was wonderful. The hotel staff was so welcoming and friendly. The only negative feedback we have is the room we selected didn't have a fridge but maybe thats an option for a nicer room but yea that would be my only suggestion put atleast a mini fridge in each room.
The service was incredible, the views were absolutely stunning (especially in the morning as the fog lifted off the lake). The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.
Room had so much mold i couldn t breath. Was told the pool was open, it was half empty. The front deskngirl thought the park ranger locked the gate didnt realize the pool had no water in it.
If you want to go back to the 70s ⊠this is the pc
This place was so outdated!! We felt like we went back in time to the 70s! TV didnât work and there was no WiFi or phone service. Thank the Lord we were just there for 1 night. The grounds are beautiful but the place itself needs major renovation.
