Capercallie Cottage is a great way to experience the uniqueness of the central coast. This newly updated 2 bedroom 2 bath house is surrounded by a beautiful Monterrey pine forest, with a peak of the ocean to the south west from the living room deck. Come and relax in beautiful Cambria California! Steep driveway for parking.

A short walk to Fiscalini East/West Ranch Preserve and the Lampton Park tide pools, some of the best in our area.

When you're ready to venture out and explore the beautiful Central Coast you will have many options close by. Hearst Castle and Hearst Winery, perched above the San Simeon Cove, are a short drive up the coast, and the famed Paso Robles wine country is a quick drive east. Charming San Luis Obispo is a 45-minute drive south and the Big Sur Coast is at your doorstep heading north. Cambria is the perfect starting off point for countless adventures.

We had a great time! The house was super clean and it was a very quiet neighborhood. Nice view of the ocean. We saw lots of deer everyday. We will definitely come to this house again.

Great Vacation Rental

Comfortable, clean and convenient location to the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve with excellent hiking trails, short drive to Moonstone Beach, Hearst Castle and the Elephant Seal Sanctuary and only a couple miles to the center of town in Cambria. The appliances worked great and we had everything we needed to cook our meals, do our laundry and could even watch the local news in the morning if we woke up in time. We enjoyed the views of the ocean from the deck and watching the deer graze on the back lawn. The bed was comfortable, and we had lots of closet and bureau space to store our clothing. We would definitely rent again from Breen Vacation Station in the future. Valerie & Michael

Great little getaway

We had a wonderful time exploring the area and seeing the elephant seals. Property was clean and had a great view off the deck. Stairs and railings are not great for kiddos and it was a steep walk to and from the ocean.

We come to Cambria at least once a year. 1st time at this house. Everything was fine except for steep driveway causes car to bottom out every time you enter or leave. this was very frustrating.

Nice clean house. Can hear the ocean. House is dated (think visiting your Grandparents) and upstairs furniture should be replaced because not comfortable. Beds are comfortable and bedrooms and bathrooms and clean spacious. Rental company was easy to do business and very accommodating w/ our early check-in needs. They even gave us winery suggestions that were of great help for planning our getaway. Would stay at this home again.

Cambria-a lovely place

Tranquil vista from the deck. Very quiet at night. Walking distance to breathtaking views of the ocean. The Fiscalini Ranch Preserve is a 20 minute walk and a wonderful place to walk/run. We had a very restful time and decompressed. Will return again.

Chilling out in Cambria

This cottage was ideal fro a three person group. The neighborhood was foresee and quiet with morning visits by a Mule dear and her two babies. There was a view of the ocean from the balcony and the cool fog in the morn inns and sunny afternoons were a pleasant change from the heat of Eastern Los Angeles County in August. We enjoyed visiting the natural wonders up and down the coast and Cambria is a quaint little town with friendly people and all you need a few minutes drive form the cottage. All in all an excellent vacation.

Wonderful Place

This was an amazing stay. While Cambria was pretty foggy during our stay, the wooded neighborhood was quiet and scenic. Lots of wildlife (deer and turkeys) roamed freely, totally uninterested in us humans. The house was clean and equipped with everything needed. No worries on bathroom tissue and paper towels (plenty supplied), so while we brought some of our own, it wasn't needed. Bedding was clean and fresh. Two items of caution: 1. Spotty cell phone service, but there is a land line for local calls, which did come in handy a few times. 2. TESLA car owners beware of scrapping the bottom guards. The driveway going down to the garage is steep and has a high curb, that will scrape your wheel well guards. Approach with caution. I was able to enter the driveway at an angle approach from (I believe the south end of the driveway) without scrapping the bottom. However, reverse out of the garage and driveway taking it an an angle, I was not successful in not scrapping. Do it with caution and at an angle to minimize the scrapping. 3. EV car owners in general - The outlets in the garage are 120 BUT do not run the furnace OR hairdryers if you are plugged in to charge. It breaks the circuits. Overall I gave 4 stars, but only due to the EV charging and driveway issues. Everything else was 5 stars.

Peaceful hideaway

All of the people I spoke to at Breen Vacation Rentals whether it was thru email or in person were very helpful and prompt at replying. We drove up to the house and at first glance it was a bit plain. Once we were inside it was clean and comfortable. It served all of our needs and had a beautiful view of the ocean and forest. The kitchen was well equipped with the kitchen basics that you need such as a sharp cutting knife, tea pot, pans etc. We enjoyed the fireplace, but would suggest some fire tools to move logs and paper around since none of that was provided. Our family loved the location and walking thru the neighborhood, along with beautiful coastal access points. The neighborhood was quiet & peaceful. We took walks everyday and especially loved seeing the wildlife, (wild turkeys roam the neighborhood, deer, rabbits etc.). This was truly a great trip.

This is a basic rental. We enjoyed our stay overall. We appreciated the view of the ocean and the quiet neighborhood. The negatives included: a clogged tub drain that we needed to clean to use; no TV downstairs; no curtain or shade for kitchen window; and internet was out of service for over 24 hours at one point.

Ok little place

Nice little place. Steep driveway; bedrooms in different levels. You have to pick up key at management office in town (and drop off when you leave). Garage door opener did not work. Called twice about it. Someone came and said that it would be fixed the next day. Did not happen.

Labor Day getaway

My family and I had a wonderful stay here! The house is beautiful and comfortable. The only issue we had was with. a rude neighbor but that had nothing to do with the house. We would definitely stay here again!

Fire Evacuation

Property was great. Would make a great vacation stay, we unfortunately rented it at the last minute because we needed to evacuate from the SCU Lightning Complex fire. We rented for the internet, to do remote work. It was spotty. Suggest the owners look at getting a new WIFI router.
