I would not recommend staying here.
We arrived to find a toilet that wouldn’t flush, and to make matters worse, there was a cockroach in it. I immediately contacted the host, who sent someone out, but nothing was actually fixed. We left for a while to get something to eat, hoping the issue would be resolved when we returned, but the toilet still wasn’t working.
The cleanliness and maintenance of the apartment were extremely concerning. While brushing my teeth, a scorpion came out of the sink. When I reported it, the host responded that this is a jungle/beach area and that encountering scorpions is possible. While I understand that wildlife can occasionally find its way indoors in tropical locations, it’s still unacceptable to have a scorpion emerge from the sink inside a rental property. The host did offer a complimentary late checkout, which I appreciated, but it did not resolve the numerous issues with the stay.
During checkout, we followed the instructions to strip the beds, only to discover a mattress that was stained and filthy underneath the sheets. There was also a broken floor tile that created a tripping hazard, and my child nearly tripped over it.
To top it all off, there was no hot water, so we couldn’t even take a proper shower during our stay.
Overall, the apartment was dirty, poorly maintained, and did not meet basic expectations for cleanliness, safety, or comfort. Between the pests, plumbing issues, lack of hot water, unsanitary bedding, and safety
