Overall:
Fabulous at a fair price! 5-stars - Highly recommended for couples or solo travelers.
Location:
Villa Botanica is located in Old Cannes, amidst shops & restaurants, corner grocery stores and large open air markets, as well as mass transportation (steps from the central bus depot). I normally stay in Centerville (around The Carlton), but I've enjoyed staying in Old Cannes, which is a 7-10 min walk to the West. I find Old Cannes more lively and much less tourist-trappy than Centerville.
Property:
It's beautiful and decorated very tastefully. It's cozy, but makes expert use of the space. It felt perfect for couples or solo travelers. It's large enough for a child (or friend) who could crash on the couch, but I wouldn't recommend more than 3 people. It has cold air conditioning which was a must-have if you're visiting in the summer, laundry in the lobby, and kitchenette with all the necessities for simple meals in (but really, you should eat out in Cannes!).
Host & Communication:
Top-notch host -- proactive, kind, responsive. Easy check-in and check-out. I didn't need anything additional, but I felt like if anything needed addressing, it would have been at once.
